Subject: Blood Angels Transport?

I'm in the final stages of getting my Blood Angels army finished, after working on them on-and-off for more years than I care to remember.
As I've rarely actually PLAYED, I have an excessive number of "option" models - things like extra sergeants with different weapons and war gear so I can experiment as time goes on.
However, I'm definitely lacking in the transport department.
I have a Land Raider and a Crusader/Redeemer (haven't made up my mind on that yet) but no Rhinos so far.
By the time I add a few more I would expect to be able to field anything up to 3,000 points.
Bearing in mind the new codex, what should I go for? Rhinos or Land Raiders?
Any thoughts would be welcome, especially as I plan to purchase this weekend...

Depends on the size of game you're playing, and the type, be it friendly or competitive. Rhinos in my experience are great, especially in the new BA codex where they're fast However they are pretty fragile, and land raiders give you a *lot* more protection against, well, everything, but the points cost can be prohibitive. It also depends on how many tac squads you're wanting to take, because obviously if you buy a land raider for everyone, it's going to cost a lot, both in terms of points and money

I would guess most games will end up in the 1500 - 2000 point range, and I'm not interested in playing in any kind of serious competition.
I'm wondering if I buy a couple of Razorbacks ( they're only $5 more ), if it's practical to use them as Rhinos as well? Is it simply a matter of leaving the turret off?

Yes that's correct, the razorback has all the bits to make a Rhino, plus the optional parts to make a razorback as well. It's what I do when I purchase a rhino, because at the very least you have the option to field it as a razorback as well.
Hope that helps.

I'm trying to decide this as well. I've just picked up the BA codex, and while it has some silly stuff in it (deep-striking Land Raiders and Fast Vindicators being prime examples), it's actually a pretty inspiring codex, and the new models are amongst the best Marine plastics so far. So now I'm working on an army list. I'm finding that at 1500 points it's very difficult to cram 2 Land Raider variants in. You get a points reduction if you give them to Assault squads (the BA's liberal supply of Land Raiders is also a bit of a mystery to me), but it's not enough to make 2 really viable. Basic Razorbacks are attractive because you get cheap mobile firepower (once you upgrade their guns they become points sinks, I think), but that restricts you to small squads. I think Rhinos are the way to go, maybe with one Land Raider.
It's easy to make your Razorbacks with removable turrets - just don't glue the roof panel or roof hatches in - but you'll probably want to magnetize them so they stay in place.

ya with the razorback kit its easiest to assembled the gun on the back hatch, but don't glue those hatch doors to the rhino itself. Then you can flip it upside down and put it in the same spot for a rhino, or flip the gun side up for a razorback, really great to have that option!

I wold bring a Landraider so you have one for sure. But Rhinos and drop pods are what I think you should get. Razor backs are cool and all But I like full 10 man squads of assalt marines.
