I have noticed in my lovely SM codex that it says I can take a storm bolter for 10 points. Is this actually an additional storm bolter, or did the codex designers up? Also, is a dozer blade worth it?

It's an additional storm bolter, as the rhino already comes with one as standard.
It's been that way for the last 2 codexes as well.

Its a second storm bolter, IIR.
Dozer blade is not worth it. Especially in the SM Dex. No reason to start bumping up the points of a rhino. keep em cheap and dirty.

Almost 33% of it's base cost increased for another 2 s4 shots? Doesn't seem worth it.

Better than when it was originally 60 with it
Basically the ony upgrade I bother with as if I take Extra Armour a 2 never comes up on the damage roll, but the game after I stopped taking both; lots of twos and imobilization from driving through difficult terrain >_>
It's good for helping to hold the objective when they get there though and adds some more durability to the Rhino itself as if it isn't destroyed outright they'd need to get rid of two weapons instead of one. For the rare times that a Rhino will actually last until the end of the game though...

I only use them for CoD. Nothing as useless as a Dedicated Transport with a better-than-average chance of immobilizing itself.

Fixture of Dakka
|
I only take dozers on tanks that feasibly might want to move inside terrain, which in practice means my immolators. Exorcists might get parked in cover, but they don't move much then, and rhinos just never seem to need to get into cover, save in City Fight type set ups as mentioned.
I am glad that defrolla's function that way though, as my assault tanks tend to need to punch into a building periodically.
As to storm bolters and HK missiles, I agree with keeping them cheap. I never think a 10pt 1 shot krak is worth it, but an extra storm bolter might be, though I would consider getting an HB razorback if you can instead.

ditto. the way i see it, if i outfit my average 4-5 vehicles with dozer blades and just ONE of them is prevented from being immoblized, it's worth the 20-25pts i've spent on it army wide. there was a game where i immobilzed two rhinos and a vindicator by going through terrain on one turn...

It's the same for CSM rhinos as well. I quite like havign a bolter and a combi bolter on a rhino as it give you an option for a nasty surprise shot.

meh... they're ideally just rolling LOS blocking terrain IMOand the less upgrades the better... but it would be cool (if not very effective) to completely kit out a Rhino with every upgrade possible just to see the look on the other guy's face (and the model would look awesome)... think HK missile, extra storm bolter, a dozer, armor plating modelled on the side, toss in that tank commander guy whos name escapes me cuz I never bother to use that kind of thing... etc... fun to model, total points sink, and probably goes the way of all rhinos and eventually becomes terrain anyways... most expensively over upgraded transport ever. All or nothing, right? I think in order to be effective with rhinos, nothing is probably a more sensible approach though.

The last rhino i made for me IW is kiited out pretty heavily (only use all ofthem in apoc though). I converted the SOB Repressor and put a hvoc launcher and the FW chaos reinforced armour on it. It looks mean.

The extra storm bolter doesnt seem worth it, the HK could be of some use though you never know you just might get a lucky side hit
as for the rest well I've got Dozer blades on mine though its really just for cosmetics, the old rhino looks like a bit of a joke tbh.
