I apologize if this was brought up in Gwar!'s FAQ, I'm unable to view it at work and I haven't seen a thread discussing this particular issue. Pretty straight forward question: What happens if I have a unit initially within the Sanguinary Priest's aoe, but then assault out of it? I'm going to assume they lose the Furious Charge and play it as such until there's a ruling the other way around. Just seems confusing since the .pdf codex had the specification with Brother Corbulo's page saying "measure at the start of the assault phase."

Gwar!'s FAQ v1.4 wrote:BA.48.01 – Q: When is the range checked to see if unit's are affected by the “Blood Chalice” in the Assault phase? Specifically, do units that are within range before making assault moves but not within range after making assault moves still benefit?
A: Check the range at the beginning of each assault phase, before any assault moves are made. Units found to be within range of the Sanguinary Priest at this time benefit from the effects of the “Blood Chalice” for the remainder of the phase, even if the “Blood Chalice” becomes out of range at some point during the phase or if the Sanguinary Priest is slain. [Clarification/Rules Change]
• The rules as written are not sufficiently clear, hence the above [Clarification]. It can, as such, be argued that moving out of range, sustaining casualties that cause it to be out of range or having the Priest be slain causes the unit to immediately lose the effect.

Personally I don't agree at all with that interpretation.
I don't know where you get the idea that the Blood Chalice triggers at the start of the assault phase (or any other phase).
It's always in effect.
As soon as a unit is within the range they immediately gain the effect and as soon as they are no longer within the range they immediately lose the effect.
So a unit that is in the bubble at the start of the assault phase but moves out when making its assault move would lose the effect immediately and would no longer have it when making attacks.
In a similar fashion a unit starting outside the Blood Chalice bubble but getting inside it after making the assault move would then be affected.

In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"... |

I was simply following the INAT way of doing things as I happen to agree wit it.
The problem with what you are saying is what happens if, for example, A BA Unit charges another unit, with a Single Enemy at I5 and the rest at I4. After this, only a single BA is in range of the Chalice.
Now, I5 Comes along and everyone swings. BA Kill a few and the single I5 enemy model kills a BA. The BA player now removes the single model in range. All of a sidden The BA are now I4 and will then attack at the I4 step, (albeit at S4 not S5).
Also, this could happen. Unit A Assaults a Enemy Unit, and Unit B (with a Chalice) assaults a different unit. At this point the Priest is 8" away from Unit A. The BA Player decides to do unit B's Assault First, Wipes out the enemy, and consolidates 5" towards Unit A. Do Unit A now all of a sudden have S5 and I5 even though they were not in range when they actually made their assault?
Thus, the single check at the start of the assault phase.

I believe it's the same as the bubble buffs from Tervigons. Termagants within 6" of a Tervigon are granted benefit from it's Adrenal Glands and Toxin Sacs and I'm pretty sure this is checked at the beginning of the assault phase.
Fluff wise, it is a furious charge after all. They may be out of range after the move, but the move itself is the charge which was executed furiously as they were in range when they declared charge.

I would also agree to check the range at the beginning of the assault phase, otherwise it leaves it far to open to be abused on both sides of the table.

agreed. while RAW is unclear, the precedent is set at the beginning of the assault phase since corbulo had a similar ability (albeit 12" instead of 6") for the past few years with the web codex which kicked off at the start of the assault phase.
