Ok - so we have a new league starting at our store in May; 500GC lists to start.

I've played before, but probably 4 years ago?

I played Vampire, Necro, Warlock, Dreg list for my first grouping and am wanting to play different list.

As far as I know, we're just using the basic rule book (so no Empire Burning lists).

Was wanting to know what people thought about this Witchhunters list:

Warrior Priest w/Gromril Flail and Armor, Helmet (little magic)
5 Hounds (high speed)
3 Flagellants w/Flails (high ld)

Only thing I don't like about this list is the hounds don't gain exp and it's a rather large group (45 list).

All I can say is good luck and have fun.

I have 3 warbands on my shelf with enough dust to qualify for a dune remake.

It's not "that" bad... But must really not be a lot of players.

I think the best Witch Hunter warband would be a priest (especially if you get the lesser magic arrow spell or the aoe melee spell from the prayers list), 5 flagellant heroes and 5 flagellant henchmen. Add in warhounds to fill up your warband and watch your friends cry.

That said, generally, there is no reason to start with any armor, especially gromril. With only 1 hero, you won't make much money and I think you have to start with a Captain anyways.

Yay!

I don't think you can take Flagellants as hero's. They're a Henchman - though they cost as much as a hero.

I've debated using gromril/ithilmar weapons and armor due to costs. Always use more henchmen I suppose...

You can't take them to start, you have to get them through "Lad's got Talent" upgrades. Take a few witchhunters to start so you can make money and get the Flagies to promote up. They have almost max human stats in most categories, so they should be peak human models with tons of skills.

I always max out the number of heroes in a starting warband. You can buy fancy equipment later sand you need heroes to make money. Also, having that many hounds, they are going to eat up all the knock out exp you should be trying to get with your heroes and flagellants. I would keep 2 maybe 3 hounds if you have spare GC to chase down magic users and ranged attackers

I did end up going with Witch Hunters. I've only included one hound and max characters with 3 flail wielding mad men!.

I had to roll my Warrior Priest spell yesterday and came out with the AoE S3 hit for all enemy within 4".

Opening night is May 14th, so now just getting everything up and painted and hoping for some "Lad Got Talent" for those Flagies!

Are you doing one on one matches, or big multiplayer matches?

It's 1x1, so hopefully we can get quite a few games in each night. Maybe we'll have a battle royal with our best characters in the end.

I debated about taking Reiklanders and having a mix of Shooting/HtH, but I just couldn't pass up trying to get 3 flages into the hero slot.

You did the right thing with max heroes. Personally I like to start with Hounds, then add Flagellents as I go.

I did a mini-tactica on WH a few years back, if you're interested.
