i personally use a DH Inquisitor, but one thing they have in common is the Warrior henchmen with Plasma guns. they are a great deal.

in that case, i always run an Inquisitor lord w/ Psychic Hood.
if it's over a 1750 pt. game, i give him 2 Mystics and 3 Vets with Plasma guns.
if it's under 1750 i just give him 2 Mystics and a familiar. the familiar because it's the cheapest option for me. Mystics are the same price, but i only have 2 models.
i only give him a bolter and a CCW. all i want him to do is tell tanks or Vendettas to shoot at deepstrikers. and use his Ld 10 Hood.
if i give him a ride, i put him in a Chimera that was purchased for a different squad if he has Plasma Vets.
i usually just let him ride around in a Vendetta if i doesn't have the Vets.

i just prefer they not get in HtH. that's just me though. i find that if you are running him with IG and you use a Targeter, no Guess range weapons. could affect other units shooting (Bassy, Griffon, Mortors...).
not to mention i only give him a bolter, so not that much of a bonus lost. the Plasma gunners are the ones whos shooting is more critical, imho.
