Something interesting was brought to my attention... can you combat squad units you plan to deepstrike? For instance, in the deployment phase, could I combat squad an assault squad and then place it into reserves to arrive via deepstrike? What about an assault terminator squad, same deal?

Yes aslong as you state that they are combat squading before the battle and you cannot go back on your judgement.

Well, I thought so too, but some people argue that you are not deploying them when deepstriking, strictly speaking from RAW.

Technically no, but only because you have the order wrong.

You can't combat squad a unit as you put them into Reserve, because the decision to combat squad is made on deployment. So you put them into Reserve, declare that they will be Deep Striking, then once they become available you can split them to deploy them.

Arriving by Deep Strike is deploying. Says so in the Deep Strike rules, last sentence of the first paragraph.

Correct. So when they arrive from reserves, you declare you are Combat Squadding and Deploy 2 Squads separately, with separate Scatter Rolls.

So do you just make one roll for the squad to arrive, and then you don't have to say if they are combat squadding until they arrive from reserve? That's useful!

Only Dr. Cox knows how to express my innermost feelings for you and your arguments.

Yes, you only make 1 roll.

And it's a Coconut Cat.
