Being an old Tolkien fan at heart, I finally succumbed to the LOTR bug. I'm a big fan of the Silmarillion, so first, I decided to work on a few Noldori models - using plane old Galahadrim stuff for the RnF.

Here are the first few elves, with Glorfindle in the lead:

I picked up a guy's collection that was getting out of the hobby for cheap, so expect to see a whole pile of stuff from across the range come up in here - next up I'm going to work on a few elvish cavalry - stay tuned!

I just noticed Glorfindle looks a bit blurry - I'll get a better pic up soon.

Lovely stuff, always good to see some LotR getting some attention.

The Elves are looking mighty fine, I like the gold and turquoise combination. Glorfindel is looking great too clothed in that muted cream and grey.

I finished up the first batch of high elf cavalry - here they are. I still haven't settled on the level of detail that looks good on LOTR stuff. The tiny faces get a bit fiddly when too much as added, what with me not being a GD winner and all.

Next up, a pile of spearmen and maybe a few heroes - we shall see.

Looking very good. The Lotr comunity is really under represented on these forums.

I remember when we had to carve up boxes and boxes of minis to get elf cavalry.

Good to see a LotR blog.

Okay, I've been on a bit of a hiatus 2011-14

Currently working on my Riot Guard.

I finished up a batch of spearmen - next up are a few of the heroes!

I do like these models - it's nice to paint something in historic scale for a change.

Finally, an lotr blog. Are you gonna paint any isengard or mordor stuff? And is this for gaming or display?

At the moment, I own very little stuff on the evil side of the fence - the early focus is on the elves and many of the character models. As far as whether it's for gaming or display, I guess theoretically it's for gaming, although I don't know anyone in the area that plays. So we'll see!

Keeping the dream alive!

I've finished a pack of first age heroes form the Silmarillion to lead my elvish army into battle - supposing I could find an opponent of course!

From left to right we've got, Boromir the fatally wounded, Feanor (with a Silmaril in hand), Thingol the grey (king of Beleriand), his wife Melian, and Turin Turumbar - Tolkien's anti-hero.

Hope you dig them! I'll post more when I have it.

Another update! Here's a shot of the growing army of Beleriand.

and a WIP shot of Gandalf:

I like it! If that's Gandalf the White, his horse is Shadowsomething. Wasn't it like a silvery black?

His horse was called Shadowfax, but was of the purest white, due to his royal lineage. However Gandalf didn't meet Shadowfax until he defeated the Balrog, so that's one inconsistency.
The other of course is that Gandalf wasn't involved with the goings on of Middle-earth until the Third Age, and it looks like you're trying for a Second Age Beleraind army, so he wouldn't be there. Unless you only painted him up 'cos you like the model, in which case don't listen to me

Otherwise, I like them. Good painting throughout, and the conversions for Feanor and Thingol are ones I wouldn't have thought about.

More please

Yeah, there are definitely going to be a good number of later age dudes in this thread too - I'll keep the Beleriand army in the 1st age, but I want to do the fellowship and probably a Rohan army too. Don't be surprised if anachronisms show up!
