Hello Community,

In the next year I will paint a small Blood Angels Force and occasionally add more Elements to my Marines Malevolent Apocalypse sized Army (hence the thread title 'Forces of Armageddon').. I will paint the models individually and finish one miniature at a time to make sure that I achieve a constant quality.
All the Marines and Vehicles will be assembled at the same time once I receive my order next week and will be basecoated using an airbrush to guarantee the same shade of red throughout the whole army...
Yellow and Blue Helmets and Bare Headed Faces will be painted seperately and added later.

Every single Marine will receive his own heraldry (similar to the Space Hulk Heraldry) and a name to add more character to the models similar like Warseer'sApologist did on his Praetors of Calth Thread. Heraldry will be placed on the right sculpted shoulderpad that I will take from the BA range..
Each Marine's left shoulderpad will be a blank one and will bear the Chapter symbol using GW decals to create a uniform look.

Weathering, conversion- and painting style will be inspired by B&C's ancient god and Warseer's ilikebmxbikes.

To be done:

2x Plastic Captains (one similar to the one in the new Codex, one with a Jump Pack)
1x 6 Man Razorback Assault Squad
1x 6 Man Assault Squad
1x 10 Man Tactical Squad
3x Sanguinary Priests
1x Land Raider
1x Set of Space Hulk Terminators
1x 7 Man Devastator Squad
1x Predator
2x Drop Pod

------

maybe 1-2 more Dreads
maybe 1-2 Baal Predators with lots of FW goodies once I earn more money
maybe an all plastic Tycho
maybe an all plastic Dante
maybe some Honor Guard Elements once the Force is finished

anyways
here is the WIP Dread that is 90% finished... Banner is still to be done

Dread

Devastator Helmets

Devastator Sergeant with his Marines Malevolent sternguard buddy

Marine Malevolent

everything that is almost finished so far

As you can see I tried to include some Vintage Elements based on those pictures:

These guys look great so far, the Blood angels remind me of 2nd Ed definitely.

One thing I would point out is the Dev Sgt right arm, the elbow needs to be rotated a little as it looks to be at a perfect 180 to the position of the fist. Hope that makes sense, if not no biggy, like I said they look great.

No trees were hurt in the making of this sig, however many electrons were disturbed.

The pict capture shows the Astartes Strikeforce 'Damocles' engaged on Armageddon in 999.M41.
The present Battle Company was split up into several combat groups. The capture shows a third of the Company's battle brothers
commanded by Veteran Battle Brother Hector Thraxis, a Sternguard Sergeant that was shifted from the honorable First Company.
Further the combat group was supported by two Land Speeder Scout Vehicles, operated by four of the Company's Assault Marines
and two Whirlwind Batteries. The Whirlwind Batteries inflicted heavy casualties among the Ork Hordes engaged on Hive Acheron.

Well an here is an update finally

On Saturday I played a 1250pt game against orks.. I only lost 8 Marines in total, conquered 3 mission objectives and annihilated the entire ork army except for 3 killa kanz, 2 Lootaz, and about 17 Shoota Boyz.. One of the most glorious games in my career =)
I took a few pictures that I would like to share with you

This was my Army List:

Hector Thraxis (counts as Pedro Kantor)
10 man Tactical Squad + Rhino
10 man Tactical Squad + Rhino
10 man Tactical Squad
6 man Devastator Squad
2x Land Speeder
2x Whirlwind Battery

Close up on Thraxis (Keep in mind that he is still WIP... The black parts need highlighting and the metal parts need to be washed and so on...

Head Detail

Hope you enjoy

I do chuckle a little every time I see Marines Malevolent Whirlwinds, given that piece of background info from the Armageddon Campaign!

Excellent stuff, as always!

If I wasn't so intimidated by yellow...

Well, that and if I hadn't already decided on Alpha Legion and Raven Guard!

update time!

1st Company Terminator Squad.. Note the crouching brother to the very right. He is a junior member of the 1st company being only recently promoted to training in tactical dreadnought armour.. Hence he didn't earn his private heraldry yet..

the squad consists of 50% black reach terminators and 50% leftover bits... i think it's a really efficient way of saving money...

I applied weathering powders to the land raider... some of the black and metal parts are still WIP but the tank itself is about 95% finished..
love the rust effect on the engine part...
still have to get myself some pigment fixer to properly fix the pigments

Some backwater sump

And something to fix the transfers. I think it's called MicroSet of MicroSol. It will melt them into the vehicles so they don't look like transfers. You've got such a good thing going here, you really should take that extra step with your transfers.

I do use both products but it didnt turn out too great on the roof of the land raider.. I will fix it with weathering though =)

Interesting use of the preditor turret heavy bolter and the MM where the HB went. That with the side doors behing the Lascannons make it look like a totally different beast!

Love the malevolent scheme, it's always been a favorite of mine. You did a particularly good job on the chevrons and other symbols, nice and graphic.

My only suggestion would to do your chips with a starting color other then black, a scorched brown would be better for yellow/red colors as black is too dark for them and ruins the illusion of 3d. The new WD has a pretty good tutorial on chipping lighter colors if you are interested.

Okay first thing off the bat, HOW did you get your yellow that perfect, I plan on doing a set of Imperial Fist termies and that yellow is brutal, maybe needs a dark wash over it but still.

2nd, love the malevolant pattern land raider.

3rd Love your conversion work on that sterngaurd sgt, space wolf head on pedro kantor's body.

and so on, I'd also like to know about the text on top of the land raider, I've never seen transfers like that but it doesn't quite look free hand so you got me curious.

Update time:

I will answer your posts/requests individually once I completed to post the new pictures

First Sergeant Ethan Festus
Brother Sergeant Festus served as a Terminator Sergeant in the first Company with a record of over 120 active battle missions. During the Cleansing of Vinculus Alpha he was grieviously wounded by a melta bomb from a renegade Marine. Sergeant Festus lost both of his legs and his left arm. Unable to continue his duty in Tactical Dreadnought Armour he returned to his former company and was promoted to First Sergeant. He leads the 5th Company's Command Squad and often serves as an advisor to Captain Demos.

This pict capture shows the Sergeant's bionic arm replacement and an Ultima pattern Power Sword, popular for Terminator Squad Leaders.

Sanguinary Priest Zahariel
Brother Alpheus Zahariel is a Veteran of the Vidar Campaign and since then permanently attached to the 2nd Company under the command of Captain Donatos Aphael. During the Battle of Antax he served alongside Assault Squad Hadriel during various engagements. His heraldry shows the Blood Chalice, a common symbol associated with Sanguinary Priests with a vertical black stripe.

Devastator Sergeant Nathaniel Pontius
Brother Sergeant Pontius leads the 9th Devastator Squad of the "The Blooded" 2nd Company. His heraldry incorporates the blue color associated with Blood Angels Devastators. His heraldry includes a plain metallic chalice, uncommon for Blood Angel Artificers that normally prefer gold. Sergeant Pontius states that the plain symbol is supposed to represent humbleness that every Astartes embodies.

WIP Priest Gabriel

Sanguinary Priest Gabriel Telos
Being the former adjutant to Brother Corbulo, Brother Gabriel rose quickly within the ranks of the Sanguinary Priesthood. He is currently attached to the 2nd Company. Uncommonly for a Blood Angel field medic, Brother Gabriel is often found within the heaviest hand-to-hand fighting and prefers deployment alongside the Company's Assault Squads

No death company planned yet.. I want a uniform looking force in RED! Since I will mix white sanguinary priests and libbies and so on in I dont want another "colored" unit..

my idea is to built 2 furioso dreads with blood talons based on the FW MKIV dread
AND one libby dread based on the FW Red Scorpions Dread
