What would be a fair stormraven tabletop proxy until they release an official model? I picked up a valkyrie for the express purpose, but there are other possibilities also. There is the gi joe sigma 6 dragonhawk - which looks nice. Unfortunately, it is Fricking huge! It is the size of a scout titan and can cover a sixth of a 6x4' table on its own. Are there any other ideas out there?

IMHO, I say a valkyrie is prolly the best choice. Once the model is released, you could sell or trade the valkyrie, and get back some $$'s. Your waisting $$ with a GI Joe toy.

All of you are not doing it right. You need to put WINGS on a landraider, and stick a big as hell grappling hook to the back, and put a little hook on your dreads, and volia!

Take a Valk...and paint it red?

OH, oh, oh... duct tape together the Twilight Series of books and slap that package of phail on a flying stand....and dump some glitter on it...so it sparkles.

Yea...bad-ass.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Honestly, in a tournament I would be annoyed at a BA player who plops a Valk on the table and tells me it's a Storm Raven. My Tervigons, Spore Pods, & Tyrannofexes are converted; they can bust out the plasticard and get to work.

Friendly game? Couldn't care less; just don't use the same soda bottle you're currently drinking.

why would you get annoyed?

there isn't a model much less a picture. at least they would be using a model that is about the same size and shape(as far as the fluff gives us)

better then a LR with wings. it would actually look like it could fly.

Same reason I'd be annoyed if someone used a Leman Russ as a Predator, or a Soulgrinder for a Tyrannofex - because it's not a Storm Raven; it's a Valkyrie, something with a known game profile and rules. Simply put, it's a proxy.

Conversions are great, and a fun part of the hobby. If someone started with a Valk and extended it in a manner which would provide some basis for carrying a freaking Dreadnought while also carrying a dozen marines, that would be cool. Simple proxies, though, don't belong in WYSIWYG-enforcing tournaments.

Well... everything is a proxy when GW doesn't release a model... nor a proper image of it.

So the scale of laziness may vary, but even converted nicely, it'll be a convert/proxy...some will ask, why waste time and effort if we don't know how it will look and modelling could produce unintended bonuses or advantedges...Valk is prob. the model that is closest and does not violate any issues with 'modelling for advantedge' at the moment.

/shrug.
