I need help fleshing out an idea. The general purpose is to make most of the units a good target that way my opponent will have to make very tough decisions.
I am fairly new to SM and play against mostly BA and DA opponents.
The only things I'd like to stay firm on is the HQ choices and the 2 squads of sternguard. The rest is a list I have been toying with.

EDIT: Really though I am only firm on the MotFs and that they have the beamer.

HQ
2 MotF w/conversion beamer, on bike - 310

Elites
(5) sternguard; 5 combi-meltas; drop pod - 185
(5) sternguard; 5 combi-meltas; drop pod - 185

Troops
(10) TAC; ML, Flamer, Rhino - 215
(10) TAC; ML, Flamer, Rhino - 215

Fast
Dreadnought; CCW, TLLC - 135

Heavy
LRC - 250

1495 pts.

thanks in advance for your help

The LRC is kind of useless in this list to be honest.

You could get drop pods or razorbacks for the sternguard if you really want.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

ya, LRC is much too costly to be used as a tank (you could take 2x vindicators instead and get way more firepower). Also, generally its a good idea to take odd numbers of droppods so the greatest percent land first turn. One idea would be to replace the LRC with a vind or pred and get devastators with multi meltas in a 3rd drop pod with the remaining points.

Agreed. You'd get more firepower with a pred or vindicator instead of the LRC.

Your list actually does none of this. You have two drop pod so one gunna be up front while the rest of you army is in the deployment zone with a big sign that says "shoot us frist", then your two MoTF running around by themselves are just begging for a krak rocket to insta kill them.

sorry but this list has no synergy

I think 2 MoTF is kind of ridiculous personally. If you are going to drop pod 2 units, 1 will be all alone and shot to bits the turn after they land without fear of return fire by anyone who isn't brain dead. Either drop the drop pods (not literally) or give yourself a bit more of them. Why a crusader? aren't they usually meant for assault termies? I don't think a LR is really useful at all since you haven't got any squads big enough to fill its max capacity (which is the whole point of the thing IMO). I agree with Beta_X that a pair of vindicators that cost less and pound more would be a superior build. That or a Predator lascannon and use the spare points for a few more models (maybe in the sternguard?)

last option: dump the LRC for a couple of razorbacks for your sternguard, fit them with las+las and they are good tankbusters AND give your sternguard a ride to catch up to the drop pod guys. They'll probably die but they could pop a tank before they do, and at least make an attempt at consolidationg closer to support the drop pod group before they get popped. It will save points huge and allow you to fit something else in too. That LRC is totally wasted on this list.

Retroactively applied infallability is its own reward. I wish I knew this years ago.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly.

Instead of getting two motf, get 2 epistolaries with force dome and gate of infinity, and put one in each sternguard unit. Get some locator beacons out on the field, drop down in the pods, then every turn teleport somewhere, put force dome on, and attack some guys. This is a VERY strong combination to use.

This is why I love this forum. Yeah the LR needs to go and I need alot more drop pods to be effective.

Good Call General Chaos.. currently the list kinda just dies... LOL Good thing I haven't played it...

Let me sleep on it and do a revision. I would very much appreciate your continued support. One quick question first. Are two MotF not feisable? I've had alot of success in my current army with it and a libby secondary HQ but it usually turns out to be more useful than the libby.

Again I appreciate your thoughts.
