Blood Angel Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Are there any BA players considering fielding an army that doesnt have a death company. I know it is their curse, but as hard as they resist it they cant always go into battle with a Death Company.
I had been working on a Raven Guard Successor army for a while with an "entire army in reserve" motif, and the BA codex makes it workable. So I wont be taking a DC as it wouldnt make sense.
Any thoughts?

I play Lamenters, using the BA list, and don't use any Death Company.

True but the fluff for the lamenters suggests that the black rage was removed from their geneseed when they were created during the cursed founding.

I have several list written that do not include a Death Company unit. Which saddens me since I started playing 40k back in 3rd just for the Death Company.

On Dakka he was Eldanar. In our area, he was Lee. R.I.P., Lee Guthrie. |

I don't see the point to a non-scoring troops unit that has rage. So, no, I don't use them.

Death Company is good but you don't need to include it, my current army is;
1 Jump Pack Captain
1 Jump Pack Librarian
1 Jump Pack Chaplain
20 Assault Marines
10 Tac Marines in
1 Stormraven
3 Landspeeders
and I'm thinking of having a Dreadnought to help my Tac Marines hold objectives.
So far it has been really good.

Ive yet to use and have no plans on using any death company in my army.
They just arent worth it to me without being able to score.
Its not that they are bad.. there is just better options that fit my playstyle better.

I won't be using them in my standard list, but might try Astorath (sp?) and maxed DC for gaks and giggles.

I personally wouldn't use DC either if I were to collect BA. No scoring is kind of a moot point for me. If a person wants CC killiness in a BA army, the whole book is full of it and the points saved on not using DC can be spent elsewhere.

My Flesh Tearers have 10 in there. Too characterful a unit to pass up, even if you can often find better uses of the points.

DC are my favourite unit in the codex. sure they have Rage, stick a chaplain in a sqaud of 5, even without any power-weapons and ive had them rip through a squad of possessed CSM, khorne berzerkers, 2 Oblilerators, a full squad of Tsons, a vindicator, and Ahriman...all in one game before they died. earned their points several times over there.
Fearless, FNP, furious charge, 4 attacks on the charge if you have a BP and CCW, and re-rolling to hits and to wounds with a chaplain makes some mean assault phases right there.
Dont take them for the objective-holding, take tact squads for that, take them to rip through the enemies like a chainsaw through soggy tissue paper so nothing's left to even try to take your objectives.

Non-scoring isn't a huge issue for me, but rage makes them too easy to derail and lead about the nose. If adding a Chaplain cancelled Rage out, I'd like them more.
I just saw a game on Vassal where a guy had a huge squad of Death Company. His opponent baited them with a Land Raider (which they chased for the remainder of the game), and then systematically picked apart the rest of the BA force.

Thanks all for your posts. "FIFTY", I appologize if my immediate reply to your post was a bit prickish.
Opposing my original post, I wonder how many zealous Flesh Tearers (Blood Knights...etc) are planning on taking Astorath so that they can take more than one DC.

No problem at all, I didn't see anything offensive or prickish in what you said.
For more info:
My personal "take" on the Lamenters is that they have found a cure, but this has caused a schism in their ranks between those who want to be "cured" and those who think that the cure also removes the rest of their Blood Angel heritage. I am planning to write a fairly extensive bit of fluff to explain my take on them. Basically there will be two factions, one that uses the SM Codex, and another faction that follows the BA Codex. I see them as at odds, but not at war with each, hence the turmoil alluded to in the BA Codex. I may also write a campaign about what happens when the two halves of the chapter go to war with each other.

Having no DC in a BA army is like having no Bacon in your BLT, sure it might work as a sandwich, but you'll be missing something beautiful....
