Razor saw will do the same job.
Can be got for less than $10 if you shop around (many model stores stock them. Excel and X-acto make them).
Steady hands, and patience are also requirements, but you can't buy them - they need to be learned.
Proper use of English and less hostility might get you more help. That or a few more years under your belt.

Have some razor saws, but the jeweller's saws look very handy for getting into trickier places.
May well have to invest at some point
Thanks for the advise and linky chaps. Not seen this tool before.

on occasion for minor adjustments you can just bend the arms/legs with needle nose plires, but that can strech the metal and ruin details

Dremels. Hands down. Youll needs some detail bits, which are finer and grind less, and 1 or 2 bits that just eat metal. I modded an old school drednaught leg and parts and an Ogryn Bone ead mini into my Warboss conversion. Trust me, if your doing anything major a dremel that can kick some booty is invaluable.

I really need to invest in a dremel and razor saw. I used a power drill for the first time on a mini today. It was the old metal chaos terminator with autocannon that my girflriend got me. She doesen't know I play ultramarines, but I wanted to do something special to the model because she got it for me.
So I drilled the head socked out so an unmasked head could fit in there. i'm really not a fan of the goofy tusks.

Man, I don't even know how people do PLASTIC conversions without a Dremel. It may be the most useful modelling tool ever created.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

They're overkill on plastic though.
You have to use a speed so low that you may as well just do it by hand anyway - if you go too high, it'll just melt the plastic and not cut/grind.

TBH Dremel sounds a bit brutal on a metal mini!
Still, I guess GS will be needed anyway so losing surrounding detail is not too much of an issue?

No way. They can be harsh on plastic though thats for sure. I have 2, one thats got a 6 speed selector that can easily turn a 3rd edition CSM dred to powder. The other is a dirt cheap super slow one I bought from harbor freight. Its weak enough that I can use it on plastic, though I did convert a womans powered nail file into a plastic "dremel" once and it worked pretty decently.
You just have to plan it out and go easy , like everything in this hobby. If you dont, thats when the dremel will ruin what your doing.
