Hello Dakka community sorry about the lack of pictures but I forgot to bring my camera so a very in depth battle report will have to due just try to imagine the pain and destruction that followed.

This was his first time playing with his new tyranid list and I didn't know if whether or not I played it correctly so if there was any mistakes please just tell me.

Veteran Squad 155pts
3 meltaguns, Chimera

Veteran Squad 100pts
3 meltaguns

Fast Attack

130pts

Bane Wolf
130pts

Heavy support

Leman Russ Demolisher 165pts
Leman Russ Demolisher 165pts

His list to the best of my knowledge

Flying tyrant

2 Hive Gaurd

2 Twin Carnifexs with twin linked devourers and something else

6 Warriors with a prime

16 Hormagaunts
16 Termagaunts

16 Genestealers

1 Venomthrope

The game was spearhead with a whopping 5 objectives. I already knew that this game would be over relatively quickly. with him only having 3 troop choices and placing one of the objectives in his backfield he would already have to keep a unit there leaving only two for me to destroy.

Deployment
I deployed my tanks in a very menacing tank line with a demolisher on each side with my valk in the front along with my pbs in there chimera and my melta vets with my ccs chimera closer to the back. My bane wolf set up on the right which proceeded to do nothing the entire game i'm thinking about changing it to a hell hound. My two autocannon squads sat on my two back objectives.
His deployment involved sitting a troop choice on his back objective putting the hive gaurd and warriors on his far left his carnifexs and hive tyrant with a squad of hormagaunts and his venomthrope in the middle of the board. His genestealers then infiltrated onto the board facing one of my back objectives.

1st turn
I scouted my valk to right in front of the warriors and hive gaurd. then proceeded to run my chimeras at full speed towards the carnifexs popping smoke except for the pbs chimera which only moved six so its pbs could shoot without getting out. My valk dumped its melta vets out and my bane wolf moved towards the genestealers popping smoke. I then fired one demolisher cannon into the hive tyrant putting a wound on him and also instakilling the venomthrope which sucks cause i thought it was alot stronger. My pbs weaken resolved the genestealers and with my combined firepower of my valk's missle pods other demolisher cannon and my pbs chimeras ML it managed to send them running off the table. Also my ccs shot at the tyrant doing nothing but managed to kill 2 of the plasma gunners. My valk mech vets shot into the warriors killing one. I then was able to tie them up for a turn by charging them.
His turn he moved up he shot down my valk and killed all but one of my IG who held with a double 1. His tyrant moved up and so did his carnifexs and hormagaunts. He then did nothing until he popped one of my chimeras spilling there melta goodness with his tyrant. but his hormagaunts were out of charge range.

2nd Turn
With their transport destroyed the melta vets and the other squads opened up on the hive tyrant killing him and then bringing the hormagaunts down to 4 gaunts. My demolishers shot one shot into the carnifexs doing 1 wound to each my bane wolf with nothing to shoot at when full out towards the warriors and my pbs tried to weaken resolve the warriors who failed and go perils of the warp and the overseer killed three of the squad. I then charged my melta vets who were on foot into the hormagaunts killing them but i made a mistake of not consolidating them into cover leaving them open for the next turn.
his turn involved finishing of my melta vets that were in the valk. and failing to hit my units with my destroyed valk in the way. his carnifexs shot up the melta vets out of cover making them run. and he stunned a chimera.

3rd Turn
This was a rap up really for me I weaken resolved his warriors to 4 shot them up made them run off the table drove my melta vet chimera up to one carnifex and killed it. He then only had one objective in his backfield and with no other troops and no way to get past my wall of tanks he succeeded the game. It was an overall fun game and hes a great guy i just hope i taught him a lesson about facing the might of the imperial guard. Next week i'll be playing his competitive Ultra marines so we will see how it goes. Any C&C would be appreciated.

Congrats.

His build was a little odd. He needed more synapse, usually one node per 500 at a minimum in my opinion (a tervigon would have helped him) and carnifex are a dubious choice at any points level but way to expensive for 1500 in my opinion especially two of them.

Nids still struggle with mech even with the addition of hive guard and buffed zoans.

for 1500 let him use this list and see if he does any better -

HQ - Tervigon/Catalyst & stinger salvo - 175
HQ - Tervigon/Catalyst & Stinger Salvo -175
Troop - Tervigon/Catalyst & stinger salvo -175
Troop - 10x termagants/fleshborers - 50
Heavy - Trygon/adrenal glands - 210
Heavy - Trygon/Adrenal Glands - 210
Heavy - 3x Carnifex/dual scytals - 480

Leaves 25 pts to scatter upgrades

Let me know how it goes after that. maybe drop a 'fex and add a harpy w/ TL HVC & regen (185 pts)

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.

Thanks for the advice i'll be sure to tell him. But I'm pretty sure he plays with the models he has. I'll be playin his competitive Space Marines next week and if I don't play them I'll be playing daemons and I'll be sure to bring my camera.

How about change 3 carnifex into 2 Hiveguard unit and 1 Zoanthrope unit? better damage out put to mech list ,and still give you 12 T6 wounds plus 6 T4 iSv3 wounds.

Would using vassal work better than having no pictures?

I'm wondering how weaken resolve would even matter on the warriors considering that they are fearless.

I agree with ED209, though I personally would go for 2 thrope units and a ymargl stealer. Last tournament i went to the ymargls won every game,game1: contested othersides obejctive, game2: made space wolves cry and got 4 almost 5 KP by themselves, game 3: ate all scoring units. Most overlooked unit in the book in my opinion.

Sounds like you lads had a fun game

Although I had noticed something, warriors are fearless so they wouldn't leg it off the table right?

Just a thought

To tell you the truth I don't know I never looked at the nid codex I asked him which units were fearless out of synapse at the beginning of the game and took his word for it.

Warriors are Synapse so they are never out of it. Sounds like your opponent needs to read his codex more!
