I've been kicking around the idea of a Deathwing army since waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 3rd edition. Or at least, using Deathwing rules with my own chapter. With the fortuitous closure of a half-assed lgs, I managed to come into a large number of terminators on the cheap. Once I was able to steal some inspiration, I lit the fuse.

The ultimate goal is to field them in this year's 'Ard Boyz. I've got 1750 put together as Deathwing, with another thousand or so points in progress to field as Blood Angels. I've been painting the vehicles first, with termies & scouts to finish.

Progress thus far:

Vindicators (1 of 2)

Landraider Crusaders (1 of 2)

The guy in the thread he linked says how he made them.

Said he took skeleton sprues (from a WH Fantasy sprue), cut them up, glued them on, and filled in the areas between them with greenstuff.

All those bones would look much better on a Khorn army instead of the standard spiky stuff. Hopefully one of the Chaos players will steal your stolen idea.

Oh, that was part of the appeal. Since I'm not running an established color scheme, I have a *lot* of flexibility in how I run these boys.

Thanks, everyone.

I LOVE the look of those skeletons on the tanks. That is just absolutely wicked and totally fits into the grimdark of 40k. Grand work sir!

Yup. After buying so many Terminators, I had plenty to spare.

Never did like the standard mount for the multimelta. :p

Isengard in 40k?

That hand symbol is right out of LOTR, I can't help but expect an Uruk to pop out the hatch. But it looks great though, nice painting

I love skeletons did you just bits them in the gaps or did you buy them from somewhere?

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Fantastic work on those tanks. The skeleton detail is clearly a standout, and fits perfectly in grimdark bald-screaming-skulls landscape. I really like the effect, and can't wait to see more of your army as it unfolds. Keep it up!

They're mostly chopped up skeletons from WFB, with a few skulls from the Chaos tank accessories. Gaps filled with sculpted brown stuff.
