Some of you might be familiar with the following problem: when an army grows, you may add a cool centerpiece to it, like a really great looking General or a tank. Most of the time it's something big, like a giant or a Trygon. When GW started producing larger plastic kits there were more possibilities for some really impressive models and Apocalypse basically put a large "anything goes" stamp on the whole game. But now I find that I already have a few impressive pieces but I can't seem to stop.

For my Orks I already have a Skullhamma tank, a battle fortress based on a Monolith (which is so tall, it's almost as high as the looted Valkyrie on the flying base). But I still haven't build my Stompa yet and I want more flyers for my army. Yet I can't seem to just get a new mob of Boys painted.
And don't get me started on my dozen HQs.

Same thing with my Chaos army. I have a Plaguebringer and the Forge World Great Unclean One, but there are so many other things I really want in my army, all of which could be considered a centerpiece, like a Mortarion conversion or a Plague Tower.

So, basically this is a "I already have way too many big models but I can't stop making them either"-Thread. What about you guys? Does this sound familiar?

It sure does... I've got over 20 monstrous creatures in my chaos daemon collection, as well as all four daemon lords.

Orks lead themselves to just keep converting. And Daemons have damn cool huge models.

I had a thing for Baneblades first. But that has been replaced by a severe love for Valkyries. My Cadians are completely neglected.

I find the big things more interesting than the squads so I have the same problem.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General

Since I don't play Apocalypse I'm actually pretty good at avoiding this problem. However, I'm far more likely to paint another unnecessary squad of Terminators or Canis Wolfborn (no joke) than I am to paint another squad of Grey Hunters.

Big, rare stuff is just more fun to paint since it's so novel.
