Can Sgt. Telion ride in a Land Speeder Storm?
He has the Scouts rule..but the storm specifically states it can carry only Scouts (not models with the Scout ability).

Yes, both Sergeant Telion and Scout Sergeants can ride in a LS Storm.

One might note that several places in the rulebook, the term 'scouts' is used to mean 'models with the scouts ability'.

It's a shame the Land Speeder storm is in the Space Marine codex and not the rulebook.

In short: No, he cannot ride a Land Speeder Storm. He is not a Scout, any more than Calgar is a "Chapter Master". He may be the same in fluff, but ruleswise, he is not.

That is if you consider a "Scout" to be a model with the word "Scout" in it's profile.

If you consider a "Scout" to be a model within a Scout Squad, then yes, he can ride in it.

Yay for GW not writing clear rules!

Well thats like saying that no scout squad can ride in a storm because a scout squad has a sergeant in it. So only combat squaded 10man scout squads, the one with no sergeant, can ride in a storm.

Hes a Scout Sergant so you'r argument don't work, since he has the word scout in his profile.

this question should never arise.

ONLY the most rude rule nazi will ever raise this this rule query.

he wears scout armour, he has scout USR he is used in scout squads, for all intensive purposes, he is a scout.

Hope this helps.

"intents and" purposes. Intensive purposes would be something else entirely

Technically he is NOT a scout, and so cannto go in a Storm. But given neither scouts nor LSS are much cop, regardless of Tellion, I dont consider that a huge loss!

They're better than you think. Outflanking Troops = good.

He's an upgrade to a Scout squad. I can see the argument against it, but I'd have no problem allowing it.

Well... why is Telion getting into a Storm anyway?
Doesn't seem to be a very efficient use of him or the Storm.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Meh, tac squads in a rhino for not many more points (or razorback) are still a better option in my opinion....the BS drop means their sniping roll is awful now.

Scouts in a Storm have won me many games. But putting Telion in a storm meh... the whole mobile firebase idea doesn't seem to maximize the uses of a Storm.

Esp. if the 'big guns' in the ride are heavy weapons...
Relentless Telion in a Storm in Kill Team for the lolz...fine.

In Spearhead deployment outflankers get into the enemy backfield a lot faster than 12" move vehicles. When 5th ed first came out a lot of people nicknamed Spearhead Capture & Control "Draw bore" because they would often get a Draw. This happens most often when people fail to put elements in their army which can Outflank or Deep Strike to get at those objectives.

Wouldn't that mean a scout sergeant can't ride in a storm either since they aren't technically a scout?

(if they were, you could give missile launchers to the sergeants)

Just in case I ever want him to deploy within the storm for whatever reason...
Tho I fancy a 5 man scout squad with shotguns a bit more for the Storm... Drive by - Space Marine style!

Yeah...
I also noticed that Vanguard Vets can never use their Heroic Intervention... In order to use it, they need to Deep Strike. unfortunately, they don't have the Deep Strike ability in their profile, and the only was to give it to them is with a Drop Pod...which means they can't have Jump Packs...which means they can't use HI.

Vanguard Veterans can buy jump packs, which make them jump infantry (and all jump infantry can deep strike) and in case that wasn't enough, the Space Marine dex re-iterates that having a jump pack allows you to deep strike within the codex itself.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

I call shenanigans on this entire conversation because since a storm can only "carry" scouts. It does not say there are any restrictions on what models it can "transport!"

Woo Hoo! Termie Air Assault - GO! Yeah, they can Deep Strike...but it would be infinitely cooler to see them jump out of the Storm.

I'll just load it up with Scouts & Shotguns and do drive-bys...
