While trying to write my BA list, I thought it would be really useful if there was a bench mark list to compare with, somthing really average.

Any Ideas?

It would be good if this list could be not too competative and but at the same time have a degree of competitaveness, as well as being well standardised, in general being average ( Like i said before)

ps. I'm not sure if this has been done before, I'm sorry if this has and if some could direct me to an exisisting thread if it there's already one

Only of life was more linear, then it would be more straight forward

The BA army book is just a little too versatile for there to be a 'benchmark list' atleast I think so. There are just so many cool ways to run stuff. Armoured Company, dreadnought-apalooza, solid infantry list, raider-spam, assault spam, first company, shooty lists, and combined arms.

Its been a while since I've seen such a flexible marine codex.

Well thats part of the reason why i collect BA !

But I probably didn't make it very clear this at the start of the thread and the BA bit was probably misleading.

I wasn't trying to make an average BA list, but a in general average list, meaning that any army could be used for this.

I just want peoples thoughts on what they think is a "average" list, which is quite hard to find with armys like BA or Nidzilla, it's hard to tell whats supposed to be normal when everythings been boosted so much.

I think the way to make a 'generic' list begins with the obvious stereotypes. You would need to include one of each unit, without any repeats, and spred your choices as evenly as possible across HQ, Elites, Troops, Fast, and Heavy slots. For a space marine army, the following;
1 Captain, command squad, razorback
1 Librarian
2 units of Tactical marines, Rhinos
1 Unit of scouts
1 Unit of assault marines
1 landspeeder
1 Dreadnought
1 Unit of Terminators

No idea on the pts value, but it doesn't really matter, it contains all of the stereotypes.
