I know some of the things on this list are kind of fluffy, but I'm dealing with a budget and what I already have on hand. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Behind you

Basilisks are only good in the first turn, because the enemy will move up in the second turn, then you won't get to shoot.
Drop the basilisks and get some more troops, and arm them with meltas

My 2 cents

Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna have to use em for the tourney coming up soon. Not enough cash to replace em at this point.

I've never personally liked Sergeant Bastonne, the rules and fluff are cool though...and the demolition doctrine goes best with shotguns, as you can shoot the meltas, the shotguns, and the demo charge, then assault vehicles if need be.
I would also put the CCS in a chimera and drop his powerfist, you don't want to be assaulting things with 3 meltas, bodyguards, and an Officer of the Fleet.

Actually, the Basilisks can direct fire so that is not an issue. I like that you have 3 basilisks, talk about giving the enemy a pounding, those combines with the leman russ squad will be able to throw out massive punishment while the mobile wing can support/harass the enemy lines.

Play some battles before you change the list. Most of the people on here are live on here to much and there for hardly ever play but seem to have an opinion on everything. Play, Play play, and learn that way.

I don't think you should take more than 3 HS choices until you've filled out the other slots a bit. Deploying things in squadrons really, really sucks.

Agree with granesh, bastonne is an overpriced upgrade. (and he's right about the commander's powerfist as well)

Single squads in chimeras shouldn't have commissars. Big blob squads on foot, should have a single commissar, a single vox, and power weapons on every sergeant. Chimera squads also don't benefit much from orders, so cut their voxes. Currently, your PCS would benefit from a chimera more than the infantry squads.

Really, the only thing wrong with this list is the overloaded heavy support. No list needs more than a single LRE, and medusas/manticores/hydra squadrons would be better for the list than basilisks IMO. (although re: tony the guardsman's advice, remember that you can fire basilisks directly, once your opponent is inside minimum range.

Great advice guys. I really like the idea for the shotguns, I think I'm going to give that a go. How does the direct fire work for Basilisks? Can someone point me to the rulebook page? I'm also going to drop the powerfist and Bastonne, and switch around some of the riding assignments. Maybe I can grab a squad or two more, or maybe some more Chimeras for those points. I'm learning that you leave the cool fluff stuff for friendly games. I'll play a few test games and let you know how it goes.

Revised list, paring down the fluff and taking some of your advice into consideration.

best way to play guard is mech....its our strength....we have one of the worst troops choices in the game...troop guard gets owned by everything...i dont say this to put you down..the games all about having fun and if you like ur list and its fun by all means run it...but competitively mech guard owns i play in a circuit of about 40 players in my state and im in 5th (due to missing a tourny)...and a fellow mech guard player is in 1st..were the only guard players outa the 40 that play as well...ur strength is in ur tanks...run them...i love basilisks but i like Medusas more (the put termies on their inv.)...i have my lists that i run up if ud like to check them out and get some ideas on a mech guard...but i also so play a lot and learn...
