Are there any groups playing 40k and meeting regularly, or semi-regularly, in New York City? The West side of town or the Bronx would be ideal.

Don't know NYC at all, but the Warmongers play very regularly over at the Complete Strategist

I think the Warmongers tend to focus on WFB, though I've only met/played with them once or twice.

You should check out their message boards to see if they have 40k armies as well.

The only other place I know with regular players would be the GW in the East Village, but, that's a bit of a crapshoot.

East Village GW sucks its tiny and cramped with lots of small children running around. Your best bet is to find someone who has a big palce who is willign to host games.

You could also try the island as well; there is Brother Grimm in Suffolk and several which are closer in Nassau County.

Those places are considerably further from the West Side and the Bronx

I think I could validly argue that certain parts of NYC could be considered Limbo-like .

I'm on the Upper East Side and have a decent sized place. Have been looking to have get some games in. If anyone is interested, let me know (WHFB or 40k).

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. The Warmongers are very much focused on WFB and the call about the GW store is spot on. At this point Long Island is starting to look like a real possibility. Although, I just heard about a group in Brooklyn that sounds good. It seems that the Upper West side may indeed be limbo...

@Killjoy - you play mostly WFB or 40k?

A little more WHFB, but play both. I have about 3-4 armies for both and my friend a block over has an army for both.

Luckily, you guys live in a place inundated with people.

I live on an island that is too long for it's own good and ergo not conductive to 40k organization on my end.

Also, while NYC is inundated with people, it's amazingly difficult to find a group of people that you don't mind hanging around with, much less a group of people that you don't mind hanging around with who also happen to share a common (albeit niche) hobby. At least in terms of wargaming, I've always found it to be heavily dependent on having a welcoming FLGS around which to build a gaming community, but sadly, the city is severely lacking in them.

We also have our group in white plains which is considerably closer to any of the places on long island. We dont play much fantasy but there are a few people with armies who would play. We are a good group of people and have a few internet names like jawaballs and fritz on our roster.

Actually, a few of us do play on the upper west side. Mostly at private apartments, but we have pretty decent terrain and armies and whatnot for when the trek down to the village or the compleat strategist isn't terribly appealing. Anyone would be more than welcome to meet up with us the next time we congregate (usually once a week on sundays, but sometimes intermittently during the week depending on schedules). We are running Codex marine, Orcs, Tau, and IG mostly, not generally in excess of 1500 pts thusfar.

warmongers can be a bit intense and dont really play causal games for the mostpart at least from the torties and games i've played iwth them.

the GW on 8th is always too crowded with little kids.

me and a friend used to have gaming sessions with other players but he is gone in cali for summer and so his gaming boards and land is gone for use till he gets back.

@Khornatedemon: where do you play in white plains, im going there for my last two years of school (SUNY Purchase) and really need to find a way to play up there haha. do you guys do games often?

We play on Sundays at the Comic Book Heaven, 200 Hamilton Ave, White Plains 2 minutes from train station. On every Monday we play at Salvation army church, located on Sterling Ave just off of Rte 22 or Post road, in White Plains. This is 15-20 mins from Suny Purchase. All newcomers are welcome, and we start at 6PM.

that's sick. i would love to play with you guys! i may be living in the hotel in white plains if the school cant find a room for me on campus (they really dont like giving transfer students dorms...) and so im sure i'll figure out a way to get their quickly. is there many 40k players? that's what i mostly play.

The Complete Strategist plays weekly. Bear in mind though, the first time is free...after that it is $5 a day.

On that note, the tables are great. It's right over by Koreatown.

Not sure if anyone is active in this group or not, but I just started 40k and was looking for somewhere to play in the NYC area also.

I'd say it's a mixed crowd, but most of them are pretty laid back, I'd say. This is the website they communicate on when organizing their game days.
