Is this idea simply dumb, or is it plausible?

I'm talking instead of building a 2250 list...build two armies consecutively, so say 1000 points of Beastmen, 1000 points of Warriors of Chaos.

Has anyone ever done something like this? It, roughly, would probably come out the same cost for the two 1000 point armies as a 2250 or 2000 point armies, which would keep you from giving in to those urges of starting an army once you already have one building and ready to be painted.

Crazy, I know.

Thoughts?

People play these way for team tournaments, and it looks like fun. Not a bad idea, and chaos/beastmen are a perfect combo

However, I don't think this could be done regularly, since some armies would be lethal together, especially if the effects (such as magic items) of one army could buff/help the other.

It can be both a great idea or not so good depending where you play at.

Pros:
Double the fun!
Double the existing bits , all your units will look great.
Yay for variety!

Cons:
Some areas might require you to have 2k + army for the game they play.
Money.
Lots of variety can also mean your army wont receive as much attention and loyalty , compared to if , you only had One army.

Pretty much what I was thinking too, Luna, mainly #1, for the cons.

I had a braingasm when I first thought of it, but now I realize its not really as good unless you have loads of cash to spare where you can build two 2250 or 2000 point armies consecutively, 1000 just doesn't cut it for fantasy.

I guess the best thing to do is check with the place you want to game at , and see whats the general amount of points they play at o_o

Part of the reason I got into fantasy is because there is absolutely zero kids playing fantasy there. All older guys (though one is a HUGE TFG, I can't stand him, lives in his car or something outside the mall where our GW is)

People adjust point levels when appropriate at my store, alot of them are tourny players, but they're all cool and all.

Having started chaos when it was still legal to have demons and beastmen, I actually have done exactly what you are talking about. I have 3k of warriors and 1.5k of beastmen. I think it's a great idea, esp with the mostly armor of warriors and the large flesh and fur areas of beastmen. I've enjoyed it so much I have already pointed out lists for slaanesh darkelves and nurgle plague skaven... Which will be my next venture into the double list building. As long as you don't mind missing out on tournament play (or if you already have an army to expand) I think it's a great idea. Having neutral forces is great for campaigns scenarios and really large games!!

Fantasy: 4000 - WoC, 1500 - VC, 1500 - Beastmen
40k: 2000 - White Scars
Hordes: 5/100 - Circle of Orboros
