Gits, beautiful work. It makes me want to get a better set up to continue my P&M blog.

I think if you added some "scorch" marks on the bottom of the pod or just the Mantis symbol on the sides would finish the pod. Beautiful work.

Gits, you continue to astound with your work.

Everything seems so simplistic at a distance, but like I can see all of the details that have gone into the models. Like even just the gradient work on the pods makes mine look like utter squig droppings.

Also, glad to see the scotch didn't keep you away for too long

*drools*

Those pods are really good. They definitely have cohesive feel to them, and but I like how the pods are labeled with the roman numerals. To me at least, it makes them seem like they're mass produced pods

Great job Gits, care to teach me

Hrm... Perhaps we need a warp spider-"man" to come into this and battle the Imperium's Doc Ock?

I really like this model Gits, it looks like he's moving through the stuff on his base, instead of just standing on it.

I don't get this at all.... (??)

I think what he's saying is that if you take a 20oz Soda Bottle seen here:
Spoiler:

cut out the pieces you need for broken pieces of glass still stuck in the frame, and viola you have instant broken glass... You could use Mountain Dew, Sprite, 7Up bottles so you don't have to add color the broke windows.

Gits, that sword is awesome, it messes with my mind just staring at it because I can't figure out the angle to view it at.

Gits, I'm sure this question has been answered sooooooo many times in this thread. I know you use an airbrush, but what brushes do you use for normal work?

I've been looking for alternatives since I let one of my friends borrow my brushes. Got back 2 of my GW brushes, one had several bristles cut off and it doesn't hold paint (or its shape) very well, another brush came back literally covered in paint, and my fine detail brush came back with like 2 bristles... I cried a little... So he gets to keep those, and I get to look for new brushes :(

I know, that would be my detail brush with like 2 bristles

I was especially saddened to see that one come back to me in the condition it was in.

Can't wait to see the launcher's progress, I fully understand the feeling of chemicals hurting the miniatures.

I have several grey hunter models that took a nap in some simple green, and the cheapo spray paint I used melted sections of the model, and stained other parts... and I did use actual spray paint, not your fancy primer stuff (I was a noob and have since learned my mistakes, though my rhino and my drop pod still have that base of Krylon black spray paint )

Hrm... After seeing this latest WIP update, Idk about the wings Gits. Something isn't meshing well in my mind when I look at that mini, it seems to have too much of that power glow going on (which is not a bad thing to have considering most people can't do that). I would almost think something to break up the blue would be needed on the wings... something to break it up like the plastic mesh bags. It just seems like I'm staring at an ocean of blue :( Maybe its just because its early and I'm grumpy in the morning lol (Regardless of my opinion on the wings, its still a top notch looking mini)

Gitsplitta wrote:Lets review for a moment...

- so, I did the white/blue gradient on the wings which everyone really likes, but thinks is too plain (I agree)
- To solve this, you want me to make a stencil out of mesh, and completely *paint over* the gradient with some other color... leaving the gradient visible only as narrow lines behind the mesh
- this is ignoring the fact that unless the stencil is somehow adhered to the wing surface, the force of the airbrush will move the stencil and no pattern will be transferred at all, or if it is (in the case of a thick stencil) it would look really messy

That's what you guys want me to do??

Yes... but no. Now that I've actually had some form of caffeine and am no longer staring through my eyelids, I was thinking about my comment. Mesh bag would screw up the wings because it would be chunks of color breaking it up, when all I meant to say was the wings needed lines or something to break up the gradient color. I think thin lines would be what does the trick. Granted, I wouldn't know how to do something that wouldn't ruin the whole mini by creating lines so stark that they jump out on the smooth transitions of the wings.
kinda like this:

But again, you're a much better painter than I am

Edit: ninja'd by my workload lol but the gradient would be the clear parts on the wings, with something breaking them up being the membrane holding the wing together

I know, their website bites, their catalog bites.

You have to dig around in their categories section to find where the "Adhesive Window Transparency Film" because you can order online, you just have to be in the right category to order (and I haven't found the correct category yet).

Only curse words could describe my enthusiasm for this miniature... so I will be clean...

Gits... EVERY time I see you experiment with something it turns out freaking awesome. I only hope that my Blood Angels can have even a fraction of awesomeness that is your mantis warriors

Gits, I' know you've used Chapterhouse Studios stuff before, how is it quality wise? I've got 2 Stormravens sitting in a UPS truck on their way to my school, and I was thinking of getting their conversion kit to elongate my stormravens to make them look bigger

I'm loving the poses on those gits, Are you gonna try to do any sort of mantis warrior 'wings' on them sorta like Ravenwing bikes?

This might just be my flagrant nerditry coming into play here, but I would love to see a jetbike that has the tail end of a firefly class ship from Firefly (the show not the bug )
