So I just picked up the IG codex today from my GW and was wondering what people thought of this list since I've been having trouble deciding what to do.
I liked the idea of Mech-Vets and a list that would be reasonably redundant and able to deal with all comers and all scenarios.

Alright, I'm not much of a list-writer, but I'll give you my insights as a fellow treadhead.
-The Company Command Squad is amazingly versatile, utilize it! I run a vox, medic, a melta and a plasma. I always run a medic with my plasma gunners just to ensure their survival.
-I used to run an all Veteran list, and though its fun, you do much much better running infantry platoons. I run two platoons of 30 men each. I usually run a Platoon Command Squad with a medic, vox, and 2 plasma, and 3 squads of guard (not blobbed) with a flamer and vox in each. My other Platoon Command has the same basic loadout, but the 30 men behind them have grenade launchers and voxes. I do run one veteran squad with 3 meltas and the demolitions skill, that demo charge will really mess things up.
-I really really REALLY dislike sentinels. You can do better with heavy weapons teams, sentinels, even at 12 10 10, will die amazingly quickly. Run a Valkyrie or Vendetta, the valk is great for hordes, and the vendetta is definitely good for dropping heavy armour.
-Vanquishers are cool, but 3 is too much. Hitting on a 4+ is just such a gamble for a powerful tank like it. If you run one, run Pask with it, and you'll raise your chances for tank killing. I personally prefer the standard Battle Tank, give it the Heavy Bolter sponsons and you'll drop a template and fire 9 shots at whatever is left!
Just my two cents, hope I've given a little advice!

OK, general wisdom (and I agree) is to give veterans the high-powered guns. Melta and less commonly plasma. Your chimeras already have a high rate of fire, so give the BS4 veterans something that can kill hard targets. Veterans with meltas are short-ranged, but they kill vehicles a lot more reliably than vanquishers.

Which brings me to my next point - vanquishers are awful. Consider a combination of medusas (w/ breacher shells) and hydras for the same task, but more effectively. Or if you want Leman russes, just take demolishers or LRBTs.

Armoured sentinels are inferior to scout sentinels. Outflanking really helps autocannons IMO. Why not take 2x2 scout sentinels with autocannons instead?

Oh, and finally, the CCS deserves high-power special weapons just as much as the veterans. I can't emphasise this enough - every chimera has a S6 weapon on it, that base is covered! Take some stronger guns! You can't have 4 guns and a medic though, a single man can apparently only manage one or the other.

I am going to third the lameness of vanquishers. I still have not decided for my 2k list on my last tank being another demolisher or medusa with bastion breachers but both do a great job at killing tanks.

Currently for my heavy supports I run an extermanator (because five plasma templates are awesome and people fear it so it gets targeted first) A russ for standard long range killing and the demo/medusa. The medusa is much better at killing armor but its lack of armor still makes it an iffy choice for me. If I could free up a few more points and get 2 it would be an easy sell.

I go 2x plas and a pistol with my ccs with a medic and vox but the numbers do slightly favor just 4 plasma gunners with no protection (unless plasma shots mean you always roll 1's like me).

Grenade launchers are a waste with your improved BS save the templates for your footsloggers. I go melta for the suicide squads and plas for the objective holders.

Drop the 2 chimeras, put your melta vets in vendettas. Take out Pask, squad up the Medusas (or squad up the tanks stated up ahead), Turn the Vanquisher into a LRBT with LC, and add another base LRBT. You really have a decent amount of anti-tank as is I'd think, so you don't need a vanquisher with Pask. With melta vets in vendettas, you get you're scout move and the 4+ cover if you don't get 1st turn and even then you get meltas pretty close to their targets. Lets see...what else...the medic pack in the CCS is debatable, some like it some think it still equals for kills without it and a 4th plasma gun. But if you throw that out I'd add a LC to the hull of the base LRBT, or take off both LCs from them and give your meltavets power fists. I really don't see those bolt pistols doing anything for you either...so I'd drop those and put 10pts into a HS on your CCS chimera. What do ya think?

Hmmmmm I agree with a lot of that. I do think I'm going to keep the medi-packs to prevent people melting via Gets Hot.
I'll tool up a new list soon.

I think you should keep the veterans in chimeras - vendettas are very high-profile targets and range is their only defense - you want them to move 6" a turn around the edges of the table, firing all guns, not zoom right toward the enemy.

I do agree that the list has plenty of anti-tank, and I'd take a LRBT over pasks vanquisher.

Use the points saved there (Pask really is too expensive to just be thrown in a list IMO) to buy a PCS, you need one to take infantry squads! Then buy every element of your infantry platoon some special an/or heavy weapons. Autocannons and grenade launchers would fit well into this list. Scrap the bolt pistols on the sergeants, they really are completely superfluous, you want to buy real weapon upgrades first.

You can save points by removing the carpace armor from the CCS, either they are in the tank not getting hit or they can use the wreckage for a 4+ save.

I respectfully disagree with the idea of putting melta-vets above all in chimeras. Reasons why:
1. chimeras are slow moving compared to the valk, so the enemy can easily evade them with his own tanks.
2. chimeras are more penatrable compared to valks. One average shot to the side armor leaves your melta vets out in the open without a ride and without anything to kill to earn their points back.
3. I've put melta-vets in chimeras before and it has failed miserably.

Trust me when I say that putting melta-vets in vendettas or regular valks is a must. otherwise they will never reach their targets. If we were talking plasma-vets or flamer-vets, I'd say sure put those in a chimera, but seriously, you are taking too much of a risk putting melta-vets in such a weakly armored and slow transport IMHO. Sure the valk has a large profile, but they are fairly durable, and once you drop the melta-vets off you can fly that thing away and you should be fine. Then the opponent will have more on his plate to deal with (i.e. the melta-vets at his front door, or the vendettas about to ruin the rest of his armors' day).

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

ok lets take a look at the latest list

CCS= very good but do you really need both the carapice and the medic (you get alot more for your points with the medic)

TROOPS= are good but witrh your infantry squads being set up for moving fast i would try giving them 2 of the chimeras and putting vets into vendettas/valks
I would maybe drop the autocannon team and instead give line squads ac's or one of the vet squads plasma

HEAVY= are good
you seem overly worried about tanks

youhave all your vetas with meltas and two vendettas as well as the hull las and bastion breacher shells

may i recommend you try this list

HQ:

Company Command Squad:
3 Plasma Guns

Chimera

Fast Attack:

Vendetta

valkyrie - MRP

Heavy Support:

Leman Russ:
Hull-Mounted Lascannon

Medusa:
Enclosed Crew Compartment
Bastion Breacher Shells

this list lets you scout in and then destroy 2 land raiders on turn one
and if one by some massive amount of luck survives you've got the medusa as back up

the idea is to pop the heavies turn one using scout and melta then the plasma and templates nuke any squishes that come out

this list is the same points as yours so may be worth a try and remember its only a suggestion
nice job by the way

Yeah that was a typo, I'm debating just dropping the Demolisher and replacing it with another standard Leman Russ, but other than that, thanks a bunch everybody!

Wait, where'd the vendettas go? I'm assuming it's just a typo, but the only thing I see that you could change is take out the standard and put in another GL. with the remaining points I would change the Eradicator to the Demolisher. Sure the "no cover saves" is nice, but at AP4 you're really only going to hurt, Tau, guard, and orks. If you really want something mean that will take away cover saves and cover 90% of your bases I'd get 2 Collosuses with enclosed crew compartments. Now those are mean, even with the can only fire indirectly rule. Used 2 the other day against SMs and Sisters in a team game. It was murder. But you really want the Demolisher, for its Str 10 shot and it will come in handy against anything with a 2+ armor value.

Other than those minor qualms, I like the list.
