Well, summer break's coming up, and that means I'm back in Calgary for a while. So, inbetween a Nexen internship that's starting up in May, I'll have some free time to kill. Just a shout out to anyone in the area.

You can always come on Sundays at Sentry Box. We're there every week.

Sounds good. I'll even be able to come when I'm working the internship too then.

Yet another post in a row... yeah, I really should check for times before hand. I'm here around 1.... and... nothing.

Calgary represent!
Yeah, in calgary the only places i know to game would be either GW at chinook or sentry box. Box is alright for sure. it's better there, you avoid alot of the 13 year olds who swarm the GW chinook. Most players ive met at the box are mature!

The thing I hate about GW chinook the most is that most of the people who go there treat wargaming (warhammer in particular, obviously) as a lifestyle, rather than a hobby.

Anyway, I figure I missed the memo, cause no one was there. Of course, I may have gone at the wrong time. Might have to do with Comicon too...

I know what you mean. A couple of the guys down there are pretty awesome, the one guy with the mustache and goatee and the khorne tattoo on his arm. He's always down to earth and friendly, he's never tried to pressure sell me anything. But the thing i always try to remind myself of, is for those guys, it IS a lifestyle cause they work for the hobby they like. Its good to go in there and chill with the guys and shoot the gak about warhammer though, they're awlays up for a good convo!

I like the staff there...but i find some of the people who game there are...well to be honest, lacking social skills. I find alot of the crowd there (that ive met) extremly loud and obnoxious, or completly lacking social skills. Friendly guys for sure, they'd sit down and talk about anything to anyone, but I know people who won't go into that store because when they walk in, some of the people who are there painting and stuff always give weird looks. Especially if its a woman. I have friends who are girls who refuse to even walk by the store because they get really creeped out.

Yeah I know you were hinting at the people gaming there, I totally didn't notice at first but then re-edited my post. But i completly agree. Alot of guys there seem to have no concept of life outside of warhammer. The worst part is when you try to socialize with them....they act like they've never been talked to before in their lives. I always find it awkward when someone stares into my eyes for 6 seconds or more before they make a reply, and they dont blink while they do it. It's like being a cast member in children of the corn.

Lol another Calgary soul here. I usually play sentry box, myth games or my friends house. The problem sometimes is just getting going. Last summer I'd drive to sentry and paint, game, chat with the locals. They were really friendly. Haven't played at Chinook but I have mixed feelings there.

Anyone who is married knows that Khorne is really a woman.
