Hey there, ye reader of my post!

I recently decided to start an Empire army, and was debating what color scheme to use. At first I decided on Middhenheim, because I thought they looked pretty cool....

But then I saw an army shot of a Middenheim army, and TBH it isn't exactly what I want...

So I'm stuck deciding on a scheme. I'd like to see other people's armies, to get ideas on what I might like to do....so if you have a painted Empire army, or even a unit or two, I'd love to see pictures!

I offer commission painting. See the Painting Service list in the Dakka Swap Shop for details.

Some backwater sump

Try a light gray or bone rather than white. That would make a huge difference, especially across an entire army.

My Empire army (which is, unfortunately a long ways away from even table top standards and shall not be shown in public) is based off the real life military force they were based on. The Landsknecht were originally German mercenaries who were eventually made into a standing army and were known for their fierceness, their creation of the pike formation, their squads of great swords (doppelsoldners) and their outlandishly colored clothing.

A unit of Landsknecht had no set colors, leading them to having every color possible. One leg may be red, the other blue. Different colored sleeves and doublets. No two men looked alike. When they became a permanent army, they were told that standard uniforms must be worn. After their outcry of anger over this, the standard uniform was specified as having no standard of dress.

My army is standardized in the fact that one leg and one arm (right leg and left arm, if I remember correctly... ) were blue. The rest of the colors were completely random.

I don't have any close-ups from my Empire units since they were mostly painted in a rush and they don't look that good from close, but I do have an old army pic:

Army of Middenland

Every now and then I am tempted to paint some new models for the army (which I have a lot), but then I remember how annoying it is to paint blue and white scheme. I don't think it is wrong to say that blue-white is perhaps the most difficult Empire colour scheme to paint.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

That warhammer-empire site is a great resource.. Lots of very good picture there for sure.
The Empire army book GW released about 6 months back is very handy too, at least I found it so.

Ive been doing so much Fantasy contract work over the last few years I am afraid these are all I have of my army, at the moment.
