There are several magic items that bounce wounds back on the attacker like the Warpstone Armour or the Ramshorn Helm do they effect Ethereal troops? I'm asking out of interest mainly as the Ramshorn Helm specifys it makes a normal without weapon or ability bonuses attack?

considering any attacks made by ethereal units count as magical and the items that reflect the hits are magical I see it clearly counting as a magical attack either way.

What Grimaldus said. The source of the attack is Magical, so assuming we're speaking of an actual reflection (the attacker's own attack is turned against him) the wound done back is Magical. Even if this would not be the case it's a magic item that does the rebound and you can argue that this makes the source of the wound magical.

If you dont think a shield launching itself at your face and hitting you is Magical, you're not playing a fantasy game

Yes, it's magical, in the same way as Magic spells at no point state they deal Magical damage - some things are too obvious to need it spelling out!

Tell that to anybody arguing a force sword isn't a force weapon...

Makes sense to me!

Huh, well, hate to disagree, but here goes:

An attack is not magical unless it specifically states that it is magical (and all attacks from magical weapons, as covered in the main book).

Warpstone armour specifically states that it dishes out a S4 magic hit for every armour save you make. Warpstone-powered reflection-type stuff.

The Ramhorn Helm, however, says it's a "regular" attack, at your base WS and S. From the feel of the item, it seems like you get to headbutt people when they try to stick you? Not really sure on that one. But, unfortunately, it does not say these attacks are magical (compare to the Maiming Shield from Lizardmen or that weird shield from O&G). Maybe the FaQ will sort it out?

Anything coming from a magic item or spell should be magical unless otherwise specified (IE magical bows).

The problem is what 'magical attacks' is is never actually defined. Magic weapons and spells (And miscasts) are never defined as magical attacks even though most people play that they are. I've only run into one that didn't.

That is true. I suppose you could say "if its direct source is outright magic, then the attack is too". So the Sword of Might and Fireball, but not a clanrat, even though he was made by the mutating effects of chaos (trying to cover all bases there).

Eh. Sure. The Ramhorn Helm might as well have magic attacks. Sure, its a headbutt or whatever, but its a magic headbutt. Or the helmet does it for you. Or something.

The Helm is from the "Magic Weapon" part of the army list, therefore magic attack.

Don't try and pull this stuff playing, its clear enough the intent is magical be good sport.

...who you talkin' too? I agreed-Skth swayed me. And isn't it from the "Magical Armour" section? I don't own the book, but, if my memory serves, it's right under the troll-armour and that armour that gives you a 2+ Ward versus flaming attacks? At any rate...yeah. I..um. I agree.
