A friend sent me this video and I thought some here might find it interesting.
Perhaps we are witnessing the "birth" of "Space Marines".

Holy crap I want one. Thats better than the super bulky and slow "mech" design I saw a couple of years ago. Its compact and reacts really quickly. Not fast enough for any kind of combat situation just yet but for motor pools the speed you could move all the heavy bits about would drastically reduce repair times on tanks. I want one just for fun. :3

The greater good needs some moo.

Thats what I thought the first time I saw that thing on either History or Discovery. Pretty neat stuff they are doing over there.

Crouching in a chair, drinking tea.

Nah. This is a birth of a terran marine from starcraft. A space marine could throw that thing a kilometer.

I remember when I posted this a year ago! And then I think three times after that!

It's still cool though.

I'm not sure if they're really done much with that design in the last year. The hulc suit though has caught quite a bit of traction once it's team got picked up by lockheed.

Good, now the only thing we need is a ridiculous amount of armour and jump jets, then we have the Mobile Infantry. You could probably say these guys are the Terminators of the modern battlefield if a regular Marine is the Tactical squad equivalent. Slightly slower but packs a hell of a punch.

discreetly condescending man is discreetly condescending.

it's either the birth of a SC terran, or the beginning of the Nano Suit from Crysis.

Sold everything.

It will definatley be interesting to see what this technolegy leads to in the next couple of decades.

Well that and they need to be cabled to a giant generator or the power grid. These guys are basically the vacuums of the modern battlefield. Watch that plug!

Ah, I was unaware you had posted this already Shuma,my bad.
I haven't heard of the "hulc suit",is it the same sort of design as the exoskeleton shown here,or some other sort of "prototype"?

Different company and in a much later design stage. It's being developed and produced by lockheed martin and has been under limited trials in Iraq and afghanistan.

Hmm, the one that Fitzz posted is a lot cooler than that Hulc thing.

True, but it's also a less real at this point. Practical applications are rarely as cool as the shoot for the stars concept demonstration prototypes. The SARCOS suit is basically just a hyped up forklift, the hulc suits something thats IN the desert right now. I do hope that they do something cool with the sarcos designs though, it would be sad to see it just fade away.

That, made me lol.

Then I realised how stupid/cool some of that was. Too bad that thing is waaaay not going to be sold to anyone. If it could stop mortar shells and higher powered rifles then maybe, and the limited vision is a very bad factor.... Some of those extras are just superflous (is that spelled wrong?) like the magnetic holster. If it comes off easy enough to just take it off with your hand it will come off if you sit down and the like. It might work for Police officers, but for actual soldiers I don't think so.

It's like the bearsuit, some dude buys a lot of football armor and bankrupts himself thinking he's making the next big military advancement.

They would never buy it from him anyways, as he isn't a big company, has no backing, and is outside regular channels. The best he could hope for is for another company to buy his idea out from him for more than he put in.

True, but that's fairly common practice in low level development and tech startup companies. If his idea and design was good enough he could get venture capitalist investment to actually turn his design into a reality. It does not appear to be good enough though.
