Ok so a thought hit me today while thinking about how just INSANE some of the BA characters are, as well as some people wanting to make their own characters and just getting carried away.

So according to the 40k rules, in any stat line, a 10 is the absolute highest you can go. So lets think on this for a moment, and use some famous characters as examples. If you are to give the Emperor stats, it would most likely have a bunch, if not all 10s. Thats showing that he is just the king of cool, and cant be killed by any number of titans basically.
So lets scale back a bit, Thraka, who is the BIGGEST AND BADDEST Ork out there is half his strength. So even with a super powerful hydrolic assisted power klaw, can hit in the area of the Emperors strength. Thats pretty damn impressive. So assuming that the Emp. is str10 (why not, I think he would use his super mental powers and sort of force push while attacking. Thats how I see it anyways) Thraka is half as strong as him, and needs some serious machine power to get into the power band that the Emp is at.
His WS would easily be a 10 as well. Being able to see into the future and such would make even the worst swordsmen, a hard nut to crack. Hell the NightBringer, a star god that eats suns, has a WS of 6(same as Thraka) and even he cant match the sheer awesomeness that is the Emperor in a dual.

Now using this logic, compairing the best we have now, against the Emperor, our awesome guys seem to lack alot. So we can assume that the Primarchs, who were pretty much gods themselves, would have stats in the 7,8,9 areas correct? They were the best the Emperor could make, and according to fluff, most killed Avatars for lunch (who is a god as well) So again, looking at my examples, giving a character stats that are 7-9 is pretty much demi godly right? Does that seem like a bit much when giving something other then a god/primarch stats in that range?

Are you saying that you cant get the job done in the slaying department with a WS of 5 or 6? I mean Thraka (I use him mostly because Ive personally used his awesomeness ALOT) just steam rolls regular guys. He steam rolls terminators (the bad asses from the Space Marines) he even steam rolls most other armies awesome guys. And his skills are in the 5,6 area. And a Primarch would be able to kill off Thraka with no effort at all. So it bugs me when people give their home brew characters, and specially GW giving new codices flashy rediculous units that have WS8(Sanguinor) and things of that nature when they really dont need stats THAT high.

Am I alone in this way of logic? Or should I just suck it up, and watch the game go from some things being broken, to just being roll a D6 and on a 1+ you win!

But... but a roll of one always fails!

It's being run by people with short term vision and enough greed to extinguish a sun.

Perhaps they're the C'tan.

alexwars1 is right. Modern codices win on a roll of 2+, assuming you fail your 6+ invulnerable save.

I agree with you, uber-characters are getting a bit over the top. It's strange as WFB seems to be moving away from overpowered characters and 40k is moving towards it.

The only character I see as a hugely problematic design is Mephiston, who is a Bloodthirster powered character BUT - is human sized. So, he is easy to hide.

I guess the Primarchs stats would be in 7-8 zone. And the Emperor shouldn't be much better than them in plain stats. Maybe with other rules but... he got beaten by a Primarch.

Aren't some of the new BA dudes missing the IC trait, meaning they have to go it alone?

Mini-MC's, in effect?

Not entirely. He didnt want to hurt his son, I mean Horus was his favorite by a long shot. Once the Emperor realized he couldnt be saved, he instantly blasted Horus out of existence. So in effect he won, and could of won as easily as thinking about it.

Im not sure if they do or not. I havnt read the codex from back to front, but I breezed through it, and listened in on people talking about the oh my god parts. Even if they are, thats just insane. Especially for a Space Marine. Im not trying to down play how hardcore a space marine is, but I mean, when your starting to edge on the Primarch stats thats getting way over board. You can get the point across that a character is a serious death bringer, without going crazy. Like I said earlier, a standard warboss will bring ALOT of pain your way. Ive seen it happen ALOT, and they dont have stats anywhere near the crap I see GW or others bringing out

Also, if it says you win on a 1+, you auto win people, thats the rules

But seriously Im glad at least some of you actually felt like adding something to this discussion.
