Total: 1510pts

I am allowed to be 10 points over the limit btw, I could just away a lightning claw from one assult squad.

My tatics are use the preds and marines to move up the field a little but mostly gun the crap out of all enemy infantry. the lasconnon as a tank killer, the Autocannon/Heavy Bolters as heavy troop smashers.
The Command squad is my heavy assuault squad that I am planning to drop in with the assault maybe in drop pod assault (not sure because that would be first term so would probably die...), they're ment to be to tie down enemy horde sqauds and destroy them.
The Land Speeders with 6 shots each AP 4 are going to also be for jumping about the field gunning down light infantry.

Whats your guys views on my assualt and shooty army? any comments appreciated

Basically, you need more special weapons support - maybe one assault squad and 3 tacticals would be best (this would also increase your number of scoring units).

Powerfists are generally a better deal than lightning claws - they let you damage vehicles, beat monstrous creatures and insta-kill characters.

Land speeders with heavy bolters won't kill that much for their points. Lots of good players use them with a single Multi-melta (deep strike behind tanks, blow them up), multi-melta + HF (same, then go roast infantry) or typhoon missiles (hang back at extreme range, plunk away at tanks).

Your heavy support looks pretty good.

Overall, I think a lot of players like rhinos/razorbacks over drop pods. Especially for assault units, deep strike isn't that great, compared to an extra layer of protection and mobility.

This list is OK as a start but will struggle against a lot of popular builds (mech IG, mech Eldar, Ork BW spam and any LR spam varient).

You are seriously lacking in anti-tank firepower and have only two things capable of damaging AV14 - the meltabombs in your captain and your laspred.

Also, why are you putting assault marines in drop pods?

I'd stick with the dakkapreds (for 85 pts they're well worth it) and consider upgrading the land speeders (either give them meltas or typhoons) and then find ways of getting melta in the list.

hope this helps.

It's not too bad, you just need to work on your upgrades.

1. Give your Captain a Relic Blade instead of the power sword. You're not getting the extra attack anyway, you may as well take a weapon that can damage armour and wound troops more reliably. Meltabombs aren't worth it.
2. Give your Command Squad some Meltaguns and one or two Storm Shields. That way the squad can attack heavy armour once it hits the ground and then might actually survive the first round of shooting against it.
3. Your Tactical Squads are ten points under-cost. 90+5x16=170. I would give them Meltaguns instead of Flamers, just so you have a chance at taking out armour which your list will currently struggle against. They also need Rhinos for transport.
4. Take Powerfists and 2 x Flamers on your assault squads. This is your anti-horde unit, so keep their Jump Packs so you can choose when and what you assault. This means that you're only running one Drop Pod, which isn't a bad thing as long as you drop it in a sensible location (ie. not suicidally in the middle of your opponents deployment zone).
5. Give your Land Speeders either Typhoon ML or the Multi-Melta/Heavy Flamer combination, or get a combination of the two. Heavy Bolters just aren't worth it in todays meta of Mech.
6. If you can, I would upgrade all of your Predators to AC/LC. That way you have a unit that pretty reliably take out Chimeras/Rhinos from range, which again is essential in todays meta of Mech.

To make room for all these upgrades you could drop one of the Predators and possibly one of the Land Speeders.

Pretty much what unbeliever said. The cost on the Predator with lascannon sponsons are also incorrect its 120 pts. However they are still well worth it

Also, its worth mentioning that you cant assault out of a Drop Pod

Total Points: 1500 (if my maths is right )

Lost 1 Pred and 1 LS, but gave them MM/HF so I can deepstrike take out their main tanks and go on to take out troops. So now I think my tactics would be move preds up 6" first go and take down their troop carriers, and move up razor back with the assault marines giving them some cover (sure not making use of the TL HB but will after I have the command squad out). Rhinos move up behind each other switching which one is front and using smoke, once are deployed they use the rhinos as cover but do shoot from behind (if 50% of them are behind it to give it fire can the full squad shoot or not?) .

What would be my anti monstrous creature squad? The preds? I don't have power fists because I can't afford it and don't want the commander to have PF as he has initative 5. Should I maybe sacrifice champion for a PF in assault squad or in the command squad?

Thanks for all your help

hmmmm, well if i could make a few pointers...
i would highly discourage the use of drop pods with assualt maarines, seeing as they are already jump infantry, and the neww 5th edition rules, they could, with ood dice rolls, scale half the feild in just two short turn, witch wuld save you points and most likely time, seeing as you wouldnt have to wait for reserve to be brought up. mabey give them to your tac squads as a means of last- second support or objective grabbing.

and the perd configuration. if you already have flamers and missle launchers, you might want to upgrade TWO of the perds to deal with heavy armor. let say for example you were fighting guard, and they so happen to destroy you ONE pred with the lascannon before it can shoot. wel you wouldnt have much left to deal with the rest of the tank that there sure to come at you with.

well these are just specualtions, based on past experiance and my own armies, but i wish you the best of luck!

I wouldn't generally take pods with assault marines because it makes them sort of lame ducks on the first turn, and with the pod rule half your pods (rounded up) would auto drop on turn one. .

I don't like the command squad in a drop pod but I understand that the tactical squads and assault squads are in pods so you want to put the CS in one too. I like to run an assault squad in a pod with Vulkan and a techmarine sometimes all those flamers are pretty nasty. Nice list, my advice is to try it out and see what works for you.

You guys obviously didn't read the updated list, which contains zero drop pods.

It's looking much better. I'd still like to see a Relic Blade on the Captain and Powerfists on the Assault Squads, but you'll figure out if you need them once you play.

In regards to MC, here's my advice: Kite them for as long as you can with your Land Speeders (using their MM at maximum range) while peppering them with your Predators. Once they are down to 1-2 wounds send your Command Squad in, shoot with Meltaguns then assault. This is where that Relic Blade would come in handy, as your captain would be wounding a T6 MC on 4+ rather than 6+ with the Lightning Claws.
