Hi All,

Opinions on the following two BA 1750pt lists:

Librarian
5x5 Marines in Razorback w/ Las/Plas OR TLAC
3x Baal Predators
3x Vindicators

Librarian
3x5 Marines in Land Raider
2x Baal Predators
3x Vindicators

My first question - what do I arm the razorbacks with? Twin-linked Assault Cannons, or Las/Plas?

I think both check the boxes for take-all-comers lists - plenty of anti-meq in the first especially (fast razorbacks = move 6 and fire both las & plas), while the second sacrifices that for some durability. Plenty of anti horde courtesy of pie-plates and assault cannons, depending on meta I may replace las/plas with TLAC on the razorbacks or if it gets seriously horde-y then go with crusaders in the second list. The librarian has the 'hood for anti-psyker, I can take objectives and can contest readily due to a surplus of fast objective-claiming tank-shocking vehicles. There are a lot of kill-points floating around, and in a KP mission i'd probably reserve most of the razorbacks, or possibly everything, as i've got a decent alpha strike capability. Lots of anti-mech & anti-MC (lascannons & plasma or TLAC). Anti-invulnerable save i'm not too worried about, but taking TLAC or the razorbacks would go a long way here.

Cheers

I really love TLAC, but I don't think fielding x5 of them is the key, maybe x3, and two lascannon, TLPG? I think having at least two lascannon shots in an army is just good form, considering so many people field land raiders, and sometimes on a miracle you'll bust them right off the bat.

I like the first list a lot more, you're obviously getting a lot more shots off, and splitting the assault marines into that many small squad in one transport isn't as useful as separate squads in separate transports anyways. Your second list has ALL of your troop choice in three vehicles. Even if that vehicle is a LR it's still way to unsafe in a list of this many points. The only thing iffy on list two is just the general lack of troop choice. I think either list would do really well, and you should play test them both a little.

I do believe this more properly explains weapon situations

If you want anti tank, take the twin autocannon.
If you want anti heavy tank, take the multimelta.
If you want your unit to be fairly bad at everything and short range, assault cannon.
If you want your unit to cost too much, twin lascannon.
If you are drop podding, you may want heavy flamer.

in the case of razorbacks. They're the same price for TL Lascannon, so taking atleast one or two isn't a bad idea.

Why not only take three razorbacks. and then try to add a dreadnought or two? They would probably be cheaper, and with better armor and more weapons, just not scoring. well idk, good luck!

The purpose of argument is informative discourse, not to see who finishes in front.
