hey Dakka...

sorry to start a new topic on this guy so soon, but i wanted to be sure people see the full 360 view, and the mistakes i corrected...

here he is, if you care to vote:

http://coolminiornot.com/248491

he looks much better in the new pics i took, with my lights in the right spot this time...
this is much closer to how he looks in hand now...

the freehand on the shoulder pads needed a bit of attention, as the skull had a snaggletooth, and the blood drop was not quite round at the bottom...
DOH!!!

some of the metal highlights got rubbed off when i was handling him for photos last weekend...
that's been fixed...

all in all, i'm pretty pleased with how everything turned out...
my next mini is also red, but from the completely opposite approach...
i'm starting with white primer, and laying down the main color with Khador Red Base as the first coat...
then i will be shading down, instead of highlighting up...
should be interesting...

thanks for lookin'...

cheers
jah

Uh..dude...fan-fething-awesome. You'll have to clue me in as to how you did the helmet. If you could, PM it, cause I'll probably forget the name of this thread....

I gotta say, I'm not that big a fan of Blood Angels. Don't ask me why, they just don't convince me.

However, I really like what you've done with this fella. Grime and the level of wear-and-tear are just right for my kind of taste and the red you went with is excellent.

Hats off, great work!

ooh, now that is sexy..

can't really find any fault with it (and I do try my hardest to find faults in most people's work, too many of these replies are single line tripe).

Your colours contrast and compliment eachother very well, The base doesn't let it down and the technical skills are top notch.

You've earnt yourself a 10 on CMON, good sir.

@alarmingrick: thanks buddy...

@Murray: all the painting steps are on the blog...
click the link a few posts up...

@Clainh_Solais: as i said in the paint write-up, i've used GW paint for over 20 years, but P3 blows it out of the water as far as coverage goes...
i like the unusual tones of the P3 paint, as well as the strong liquid pigment they use in their formula...

there are certain paints from each different company that i like...
the Vallejo Air metals are super-smooth, with very fine granuals compared to GW metals...
P3 covers in less coats than GW, making for a smoother paintjob...

As much as this knocks me out, I gotta say the chest and knee let me down a little - the banner is all shiny and gold while the chest is just flat black with highlights, and the same for the left leg. Great job but it feels...like it needs finishing.

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.

thanks, Dante...
i hope i can make this a blog worth following...

i went through and fixed all the typos and bad grammer...
reads a little better now...

@karmaiko: i hear you...
the camera really picked up the Trollblood Highlight edges for some reason...
the black bits look a lot smoother in hand...

that said, i would have painted the chest and leg eagles in white, like the last BA Sgt. that i did (he's in my 40k gallery)...
the only problem is that i wanted to do this guy like the codex Sternguard, and they have black eagles...

cheers
