I definitely think this is preparing the ground for Plastic 3in1 Heavy Warbeasts in 2011. The crop of Heavy Warbeasts in 2010 all look to be revisions of Prime Warbeasts.

Why do people keep saying this? Warbeasts would like like crap in plastic, because normal organic models do not lend themselves to multiple poses. The only way to make organics multi-posable would be to have direct weapon swaps. Priveateer has said that they are not planning plastic warbeasts. The start up costs are just too much to be able to sell the number of units required to recoup the cost in anything like a timely manner.

Yeah, sort of looks like someone saw a carnifex and said 'Hey, you know what? We should make that spikier...'

while I agree that the concept sketch looks similar to a carnifex, once we see the final sculpt it may look at less carnifex-like from other angles. It's pose will likely be more open and it's body likely much thinner than a Carnifex.
I like it as another pure heavy for Legion though. Hopefully it is less costly points wise than the Carnivean.

Just curious, but where did Privateer say this? And why would organic models not lend themselves to multiple poses? Especially with the second point, that's never seemed to be a big selling point of Privateer kits... they usually fit together in a limited number of ways.

They didn't. It's all open to good old speculation right now. I'll find out if I'm wrong in 12-18 months.

They have said that plastic beasts are not planned (with no time scale given). I interpret that as 'not planned this year' as they are subject to the same vagaries of costs that Warjacks are. Plastic resculpts may also be tied to the age of the masters. Which would increase the time scale for any plastic beasts being released by (using Warmachine as a guide) at least another year or so.

Matt Wilson said in a pod cast interview that around the time they announced the plastic jacks that plastic beast kits are giving them more head ache than the jack kit. I suppose it is related to the difficulty of dividing the model to interchangeable parts.

The scythean looks good, I expect it to be around the same point cost as carni, as from the description it seems to have spray and those raise the point value to 11 point category.

Given that it is a carnivean with different hands does lend credence to the possibility of plastic warbeasts. They did the same thing with warjacks. Base body with different arms and other doo-dads.

Personally, I welcome more plastic. Kinda tired of big heavy models in metal. Though while it may be true they said they would not do plastic warbeasts, they also said that plastic was for wusses and that they would never make any models in plastic ever.

As we have all seen, that turned out to be not quite true.

Basically they lied and are now calling their customers wusses.

(IMO) It's no accident that all of the heavy warbeasts announced so far are variants of 'Primal' heavy warbeasts.

Trolls: Dire Troll Bomber = Dire Troll Blitzer/Mauler
Legion: Scythean = Carnivean
Skorne: Titan Sentry = Titan Gladiator/Cannoneer
Circle: Warpwolf Stalker = Feral Warpwolf & Wold Guardian = Wold Warden

Massive speculation with the Wold Guardian as we have no idea what it looks like yet, or even if it is a heavy.

If (big if) Hordes plastics follow the Warmachine release model then the second Circle heavy is likely to be at least a year behind the first, if it ever exists at all. This makes it even more speculative than a second wave of 3in1 kits for Warmachine featuring the other faction chassis (eg. Leviathan/Harrower) and one or more plastic Mercenary heavy warjack 3in1 kits (of which there are three viable chassis types).

Wasn't there a price listing for the Sentry, though? Maybe I'm guessing.

The "one way" plastic kits were for their organic infantry stuff. The Fennblades, Warspears, the
Bastions and probably the Cinerators are all single pose models with pegged parts. The warjacks
have more adjustable posing.
