I recently painted up a third set of Space Hulk miniatures. I've now painted three sets of Terminators, and Two full sets of Genestealers (and I still haven't done my own).

I've been playing Space Hulk quite a bit too, and I'm really excited to try out some of the older 1st edition supplements (Deathwing had rules for a Terminator Captain, and there are rules that I've found for playing groups of Power Armored marines and even Imperial Guard).

Anyway, here are the latest set of painted miniatures:

Meh, they're ok.....

Just kidding! Great job, love the antiqued finish on the termie armor. What color did you use on the red armor? And what did you use on the shading for the Librarian?

good work so far, but you need to take a pin vice to those barrels....

Nice Termies, I like the use of white on the Librarian, never seen that used before.

They look pretty good, but it looks like you went a little overboard on a brown wash. Some places look pretty good, some look too muddy. However, the Librarian is awesome. The axe is a little plain, but the white armor is a really awesome throwback.

My client requested the white armor after he saw what I did with my own librarian.

The armor is a throwback to back when Librarians didn't wear blue. I remember my old Space Crusade game where prominent Blood Angels wore white, so I picked that as a good color for him.

Looking good, I especially like the faces on the two sergeants.

I love the paintjob here biggest thing I wanna know is how you did your lightning effect on the hammer and sword, followed by your style of red.

Well, let's start with the lightning. I wrote up a blog entry with a how to for painting lightning effects. That should be helpful.

As for the red, the overall idea is to use your cadmium red (Citadel Blood Red) as a highlight color rather than your base color. Going lighter than cadmium risks letting the mini look pink or orange (remember the 2nd edition orange Blood Angels? Yeah, lets keep away from that).

My base color was P3 Sanguine base. I highlighted up through P3 Skorne Red and finished on P3 Khador Red (essentially the same color as Citadel Blood Red).

There you go, was that helpful?

Very cool, odinsgrandson. These really show what you can do with those Space Hulk minis! Like others have said, the white armor on the Librarian is particularly nice. I give you props for not sticking with the standard blue on your own Librarian, since that's what inspired your client to pick white for this one!

Also, you should definitely upload these on the Dakka Gallery! They'd be a nice addition!

Some blue glow on the librarian ax would be nice, but the white was pulled off quite nicely with a superb effect.

Yeah, I always forget to do that. I should probably just spend a little time and get a big chunk of my stuff up there.
