Mission: 5 objectives scattered about the table
Deployment: Dawn of War

Deployment: We roll off and I win he roll and let him go first. He deploys nothing, I also deploy nothing on the table.

Space Marines Turn #1: His first dread lands on one of my objectives and everything else rolls on the table with the bikes boosting up the side.

Necrons Turn #1: The heavy destroyers manage to blow off the cc arm of the dreadnaught, massed warrior fire wrecks the drop pod. One unit of destroyers is able to see his bikes dealing out and impressive 6 wounds killing off the entire bike squad. Wraiths boost up behind the pyramid and the destroyer lord charges the dreadnaught stripping off it's other arm and immobilizing it. I deploy my entire army away from the vindicator giving myself at least another turn where it has nothing to shoot at. Both spyders create a scarab base.

End of Necron Turn #1

Space Marines Turn #2: In comes the other dreadnaught landing on my other objective, the dread takes a pot shot at a heavy destroyer knocking it down. He secures an objective with a tac squad in a rhino. His other rhino advances up towards the center objective. The land raider moves up six and knocks down a regular destroyer. The destroyer lord finishes off the dreadnaught.

Necrons Turn #2: No WBB's so I'm down a heavy destroyer and regular destroyer now. The lord flies over and prepares to assault the other dreadnaught. A lot of shooting later (10 immortals and 10 warriors) and the dreadnaught is untouched. I shake the land raider and stun the rhino advancing towards the center objective. My center tomb spyder generates another scarab swarm (i thought he would advance up and shoot me again). The lord assaults the second dreadnaught ripping off it's cc arm but suffers a wound in return.

End of Necron Turn #2

Space Marines Turn #3: The Land Raider moves up and disgorges the librarian and the tac squad it then zaps another destroyer. The librarian suffers a perisl (1's) getting off null zone but the avenger and squad wipe out the tomb spyder and his two scarabs. The lord immobilizes the dreadnaught.

Necrons Turn #3: The destroyer fails to get back up. 10 Immortals and some warriors shoot into the tac squad reducing it to 3 and the librarian, 5 immortals and the wraiths charge into the unit killing off all but one lone tac marine who holds. Warriors shoot and shake the drop pod, and the stunned rhino from last turn is stunned again. The remaining tomb spyder charges in to help out the lord, which is good because the lord whiffs, the tomb spyder blows it up and the lord takes a wound from the blast.

End of Necron Turn #3

Where's waldo time, can you find the tac marine in the following picture?

After killing the dreadnaught the lord shelters behind the pyramid, next turn the vindicator will come around the bend.

Space Marines Turn #4: The land raider heads to contest the center objective but immobilizes itself on a difficult terrain test. Vindicator drops a round on the lords head but he makes his save and the last tac marine from the land raider squad is killed.

Necrons Turn #4: The lord moves up and assaults the vindicator, ripping off it's main cannon and stunning it. The wraiths move up towards the far rhino squad. The Heavy Destroyer misses the rhino, but the immortals are able to get rear shots and blow it up. The wraiths assault into the tac squad killing a couple but losing one in return (no wbb for powe weapon). I manage to immobilize the other rhino. I pour a ton more shots into the land raider and manage to shake it again. The tomb spyder wrecks the second drop pod.

Wraith assault

A pic of the other side of the battle field (Turn #4), no it's not your eye's, it's a blurry pic :(

Space Marines Turn #5: The destroyer lord finish's off the stunned vindicator. The wraiths take down 3 more marines with one more dropping, but the marines pass their test. The tac squad hop's out of the immobilized rhino and tries to go for the objective on foot. Land raider shoots a warrior and kills him. The rhino fix's itself.

Necrons Turn #5: Destroyer lord runs in to try and rescue the wraiths, killing one but the last wraith drops. It's just the lord vs. 4 marines now. I shoot into the other tac squad killing a few and then assault it with 3 destroyers and 5 immortals, whiffage ensues with nobody losing anything.

The lord jumps in to try and save the wraiths

The never ending combat

We roll for it and continue.

Space Marines Turn #6: Land Raider las cannons another warrior. The lord kills another marine is wounded by the power weapon and makes his save, they stick around. More whiffage ensues with nothing dying on either side.

Necrons Turn #6: The heavy destroyer boosts over to contest the objective in case the lord goes down. I shake the land raider again. The lord whiffs all his attacks, takes another wound from the power weapon which he saves. Everyone sucks in the other combat and nothing dies.

And we get another round

Space Marines Turn #7: The space marine/destroyer/immortal combat yet again yields no casualties. Another necron warrior is gunned down by the land raider. The lord kills another tac marine, but the squad passes morale.

Necrons Turn #7: The scrum on the left sees an immoral go down, and then a marine goes down, tied combat again. The lord and 2 space marines fight on, the space marines roll first, and yet again the sergeant pulls out a power weapon wound on the lord and he fails it and goes down. Since the combat was simul the lord swings get's two hits but only manages one wound, leaving the sergeant victorious kind of . Final is 2 objectives for the necrons none for the space marines.

After action: The lord was a beast this game, and he literally was all over the table. And that land raider was amazing. Over the course of the game I dumped an amazing amount of fire into the thing and it just took it. If I hadn't of pooped out the second scarab base my tomb spyder might have lived to see combat, but then I would have been locked down with a unit of marines, so it was probably better that he died. The marines made a few tactical errors. The first dread should have gone for the middle objective so that I couldn't just light it up on turn one also the bikers shouldn't have boosted that far up, if he had deployed the dread in the middle the bikers could have boosted up and used the pod and dread to hide behind. Also the marines were way to spread out allowing me to tackle major parts of the army piecemeal. The tough one was whether he should have combat squaded or not. Necrons have a high rate of fire which makes torrent a real option plus the best way to get rid of necrons is in assault. I think he should have split 2 of the squads into combat squads and run the other halves together with the rhinos flanking the land raider and just gunned right for me, with the vindicator hiding behind the land raider until it was close enough to cause some damage.

Finally got the Monolith put together so I'll be doing some test games with that coming up!
