Soooo an interesting rules question popped up last night.

A bolt thrower w/ crew failed the jabberslythes aura test and had to take 2 wounds.

Heres where the debate came in.

Most of us were saying the hits needed to be randomized like shooting.

The jabberslythe player was saying that since the war machine doesnt have a leadership value, only the crew can take the wounds.

My fluff reason for randomizing is they went insane for a second and just started hitting whatever was in range, be it each other, war machine, or themselves. So the hits needed to be randomized....

What do you guys think.

Randomise would be my best gues - and it has Ld"0" through Ld- if memory serves, its just allowed to take it on the crews leadership....

Does it indicating destribute like shooting? If not I'd have sided with your opponent IE the warmachine has no leadership value.

However, this would likely have been a dice off mid game, i doubt there's any precedence anywhere and I do not know if Beastman have a FAQ out already, GW website is blocked at work so I cannot check

No it does not say distribute like shooting, and the beastmen book is to new.

However the banshee's scream spell is EXACTLY the same, and according to that FAQ it is supposed to be distributed like shooting against war machines (which was also brought up)..

And yes it did get 4+ed

I'd have to say that, according to the rules, it's randomized.

According to what, exactly, the beastie does, though, I'd say it kills the crew. Your explanation is a valiant effort to justify the cannon taking wounds, but S3 can't wound T7...

Im going to side with the Beastmen player. It doesnt state that its randomized like shooting, so it isnt. The banshee scream has been FAQ'd, so it works that way, but the Jabberslythes rule has not been FAQ'd so it works like its worded. The crew have the leadership, the machine doesnt, so the crew would take the wounds.

Well, the FAQ is basically GW's house rules, so...you can take 'em and leave 'em as you and your opponent see fit. But I agree that it really shouldn't be (and neither should the Banshee's, in cases like this). Can we get a quote from the book?

In ur gaem, killin ur doodz.

Until stated otherwise, always treat these types of affects as though they were shooting.

The jabber aura uses the same mechanic as the banshee scream an Casket of Souls. GW has said they both are randomized like shooting, so should the aura. I know fluffwise it sounds silly ("Look, Chauncy, the cannon's gone bonkers and won't let us load it!"), but no worse than the others ("Ha! I just sucked the soul out of your grudge thrower!").
I see no reason to make an exception for the Jabberslythe just because the book is so new that GW hasn't farmed out their FAQ yet (not bitter, am I?).
