Pretty simple. Post the major injuries you've suffered in you life, and then describe how you got them.

1. Broke my left arm twice.
2. Dislocated my knee.
3. Reloacated said knee a few seconds later.
4. Nail puncture my left heel.
5. Nail puntured my right heel.
6. Split my palms open on broken glass.
7. Concussion.

I broke my left arm both times by falling.

I disloacted my knee when my brother and I were hanging out. I was lying on his bed, and my leg got caught between the wall it was pushed up against and the bed.
He tripped, and pushed the bed by accidnet. My knee then popped out, dislocating itself, and then popped back in a when I yanked it out from the gap in pain.

The nails occured when I was over at riends house, several years apart, and construction was going on in the vicinity. The first time, I jumped off their deck,
and landed on a nail that had been left over from the summer when they were renovating.
The seccond occured when I was over at anohter friends house, and stepped on a nail a construction worker had thrown. Inside the hole left from the nail, a piece of my sneaker was left, so i had
to go to the ER and get it removed. Four hours later, a doctor sliced my heel open with a scapel to dig out the piece of sneaker, and then gave me a shot of morphine.

I split my hands open when I knocked over a glass bowl.

I got a concussion from slipping in the rain and hitting my head on concrete.

Hm, let's see...

1. 10cm scar on left leg above ankle
2. Dislocated left hand thumb
3. Broken right arm and forearm (at the same time)
4. Small scar above right eye (mostly masked by eyebrow)
5. 2cm scar cut on the 1st toe of the left foot
6. Other minor cuts and scars all over the body (mostly gone by now)

1. The scar on the left leg got it while playing football and i had the bright idea of making a tackle on a guy, unfortunately my tackle foot also scratched some broken glass previously not known to be there
2. The left hand thumb got dislocated while sliding on an iron chute and i tried to grab the edges to slow down the descent
3. Broken right and forearm while roller skating
4. The small scar above the eyebrow is the oldest (i was 2 years at the time), i was running around till i got dizzy and bashed my head to a corner on the furniture
5. The cut on the left foot toe i got while swimming in a lake, when i got ashore i put my foot on another piece of glass
6. Every other minor cut or scar that i have is mostly from football, kid fights or roller skating

Most correlate to each other. One concussion, gashed forehead (100 plus stitches), broken nose, and miniscus tear happened from car wreck( i was passenger in 1985 Caprice). Broken nose and thumb from football. Broken nose and concussion from baseball. Sawed off tip of thumb in shop class. Wire through leg at work. Last concussion was me riding on golf cart and looking behind us with head sticking outside while moving and being blindsided by garage which also required 10 stitches in my eyebrow.

Let's work our way up:
FEET:
6 inch nails through both feet
2 broken toes

LEGS
nothing too serious,
ITBS to the max, and ITB bursitis

BACK
2 Shattered Vertebrae

ARMS
Fractured elbow
All but 2 fingers have been broken (some multiple times)
Glass in my arms a few times

HEAD/NECK
had a few broken teeth
Split brow from hockey stick to the head 5 seconds into a game.

oh nice sauce...

1. Incident 1:
a. snapped Metacarpophalangeal joint, pulling my pointer finger metacarpal away from the rest of my hand. metal pin in my hand for 3 months.
b. road rash on my left elbow all of the way down to the bone, had to scrub it out twice a day with a pumice stone...no joke...that is what the hospital gave me.
c. bashed my skull and got a huge head wound and a severe concussion.

2. Incident 2:
a. bit my tongue in half. (edit: let me clarify, bit halfway ACROSS my tongue...so it was, you know, half attached)
b. massive chest trauma, a bruise the size of a large dog on my torso, it was black and red for 2 weeks.
c. massive severe concussion.
d. massive head wound with glass lodged into my skull "millimeters away" from my brain, causing several microfractions in my skull. head was stapled shut with 8 staples.
e. had an industrial piercing, (double hole) ripped out of my ear. so much blooood.


1. Back when I first started BMX and mountain biking, I was doing a jump, and landed in some oil slick, and crashed, slid down the concrete ramp on my elbow and face, and jammed my hand in my handlebars....

I also, due to mountain biking, tore both my ACL and MCL in my knee.....could not walk for quite some time....I don't bike anymore.....




2. I was in a head on collision in which a dude hit me going 90mph. My car was wafflepwn totaled, like, engine 10 feet away from the car, blood everywhere... the driver side window and windshield shattered and when the glass flew all over my I, and my seat, simultaneously become dislodged from the floor of the car and went head first into the roof. If I had not been using my mom's car at the time, instead of my rally jetta, I would be dead. No question. my rally jetta had a rollcage, 4 point harness and racing seats...my moms car had 4 airbags.

Head wounds are soooo much fun! Nothing like hearing needles scrape your skull and laying perfectly still while they do CT scans for an hour and half.

dude I know the feeling...best part was, when they began to staple my head back together....the local anesthetic had already worn off.....

oh yeha, and in the head on collision, I had to go thru 3 CTs, and about 50 x rays

You my friend take the cake. Nothing worse then anesthetic wearing off and i can only imagine how bad staples feel. What did they use an actual staple gun?

and it was so painful......

Broken ankle (right),foot facing backwards.
Broken (shatterd) right knee.
Broken left leg.
Broken 3 ribs right side.
Broken Right arm (twice)
Broken right hand (several times)
Broken left arm
Broken left hand once.
Broken nose (numerous times)
Broken cheek bone
Broken jaw.

Torn rotator cuff (right shoulder)
Various scars from head to toe (for various reasons).
Large patch of burn scar tissue on back of left hand.

It's been a rough life.

Impaled a rusty wire through my leg. (Kids, don't play tag near rusty fences)
Cracked my skull. (Kids, don't run in water parks)

@IG_Urban: What are you talking about? For me it was short and sweet. 6-7 stitches, and it was all over. Much better than what I thought they were going to when they said 'stitch'. I thought knitting was going to be involved.

And I was the clumsy kid with my flat feet... I only got a fissure in my left wrist. But it was rain's fault. Or gym teacher. Well, both actually.

Running on a wet tiled floor is not a good idea.

7. Trod on rusty roofing nail (2" rusty iron nail penetration into sole of foot. Tetanus shot and dressing.

12. Sprained knee. Sent home with instructions to RICE.

21. Blew out ACL (knee) during routine manoeuvres in Army (FNQ). Had reconstructive surgery. Offered medical discharge but declined, shifted into support role instead - Quartermasters.
24. lacerated side of left thumb (2" scar). 7 stitches and bisected radial nerve. tetanus shot.
25. Winch cable incident. Trolley snagged, cable snapped. C-clip whiplashed and swung into other knee (did not puncture trouser leg) did make hole in leg. Two stitches, no other damage. Scar looks like bullet wound. Cable hit ring finger (left hand). Two stitches. Scar under wedding ring. Another tetanus shot.
26. Stab wound, right shoulder. West Hollywood (1994). Hole in leather jacket. Did not return. Three stitches.
28. Tear open right shin on exposed nail head in pallet.
2 stitches. Tetanus shot. Reaction to tetanus shot (arm swells up like balloon).

what are you talking about? Stitches are very different from staples. This is a real skin stapling gun, that goes ka-CHUNK with each staple stapled. And they work just like any other staples do. So...yes...I think you might be confused. Either that, or go get a massive head trauma, then staple it 8 times with no local....if it is short and sweet, then I guess you are a bigger man than me.... I know pain very well, (refer to the scrubbing of the open road rash with a pumice stone above), and this was some of the worst.

I once cracked my skull by tripping and landing on a metal toy trukk. I guess thats why they're made of plastic now...

There was the time I was sparring with a friend and landed badly....bent my big toe 90 degrees the wrong way.

I feel like a pussy next to these lists.

I haven't had a broken bone in years, but I have thrown my back out four times in the last two years, bruised my ribs (the bones themselves, not the muscles.), and had a puncture
wound an inch deep in my shin.

Nothing TOO bad for me, really... let's see:

Minor skull fracture (play-fighting, bad landing)
Broken little finger - right hand (REAL fighting! Someone tried to kick me, I threw up my hand to block it)
Most of a knuckle missing - 3rd finger, right hand (Fighting again...)
Broken right foot (just generally jeffing about)
Various scars, chipped teeth and concussions over the years (you guessed it...)

Let's see...

1.Big cut over my left temple from an iron go glide (I was 6 and made a blood bath in the most literal way)
2.Broken collar bone from falling on the only brick in about 200 square meters.
3.A gak load of mini punctures on my back from falling backwards on a spindle of razorwire (it was stuck to my back when i stood up :( it was very auwchy)
4.Chemical burn on my left arm from a leaking bottle of battery acid (something I worked with)
5.Plenty of concussions to go round.
6.Broken foot from Judo.
7.Broken wrist from Judo.
8.TIA though that's not really an injury.

Looking at some of these posters, you've had the same injuries as my brothers. They both spilt their skulls open.

I've gotten hurt plenty, but these are the only ones that had any long term effects.

-Fell down stairs head fisrt; resulting in lifelong spinal pain...
-Slammed head on a coffe table; needed stitches.
-TMJ of the jaw.
-Put leg through glass pane; multiple scars
-Two mysterious scars on the sides of my head, possibly from forceps.
-While not an injury, I've had Mononucleosis 4 times, and not once did I get it the cool way.

I should have broken bones many time over, but I have with a rare form of hypercalcimia that has massively increased my bone mass. Unfortunately, if I live to long, many of my joints will calcify over, although there's medication that can slow the process.

Left hand, was from getting drunk, and getting mad at my brother, so I beat up his truck,and crushed my hand bones after a couple hits, the bone was pushing through my hand
left wrist was falling off a playscape and landing on my hand, smushing the bones in my wrist
the foot, I jumped off a house, and landed about as wrong as I could. I literally could flex the middle of my foot like it had joints in it, pretty gross looking actually lol
same brother punched me in the nose really hard for no reason lol
front set of stitches are from slicing it on sheet metal, back was wrestling around with same brother, and I fell into a stereo cabinet.
The foot wound was really dumb. I got a drill stuck in a wall, and I just wouldnt come out, so I kicked it, and the drill bit went through my boot, through the sock, into my foot and stuck into my foot bone. They had to spread the wound, and pull boot and sock and bone fragments from the wound. Let me tell you boyz and girls, that friggin hurt lol

Wow. These sound really painful.

The very worst I have ever done that I can remember (bad sign), was slipping to the side of an escalator and getting my head lodged between the rail of the escalator and the concrete roof. Thing is, while I wasn't scared, people all around were screaming, and some were trying to pull me out. The funny thing about that was, the people pulling me were pulling at an angle, which made things worse.

I managed to get away with a lump on my head, a cut up bottom lip and a REALLY BAD headache.

Yeah, even though it didn't seem so funny at the time, I do laugh at myself for being so clumsy. I guess that's why there aren't many clumsy people in Singapore...

No broken bones as of yet but in third grade I did get hit by a truck while riding my bicycle. Landed on my face with no helmet. 5 stitches under my right eyebrow, 2 under the nose, and picked gravel out of my lower lip for a week.

Oh yeah speaking of pickin gravel out of your lip, imagine picking glass out of your gums for about a week and a half...mmmmm....gritty and bloody. Also second IG urbans laughing at Tim.

Wow, what a gruesome thread. I feel so inadequate posting these, but meh.

1. Bleeding groin area for a while
2. Staple in the finger
3. Gash in my finger

When I was a kid (8? 9?) I got a new bike, and like the first time I tried to ride it, I managed to slide off the seat forward...and land riiiiight on that nice little bar that keeps the bike together. If I hadn't been 9, I probably would have been cursing like a sailor.

The staple in my finger was just me dicking around with a stapler. Was randomly pulling it open and closed (just playing with it while I did something else, really) when I suddenly heard the ch-snap! sound of a staple being shot out of it, followed by a sharp pain. Looked towards the stapler and saw that I accidentally put a staple through my pinky.

Same pinky, years later, I was cleaning up the sprue from a Broadside. Don't know how it happened, but the knife slipped out of my hand and went straight into my pinky, giving me a nice little gash. Bled like crazy (and I got a lot of blood on the bathroom walls/floors of my FLGS ) but after a shot to the ER and a few stitches, it's fully healed. Can't feel a damn thing on the finger anymore, but it's healed.
