This is the first list i have made for the wolves. I was going to play Blood Angels Because of their new awesome rules but their fluff completely turned me off them. But the Space Wolves however have kick ass background and wolves over angels............. Thunderwolf Cavalry and fenrisian wolves vs sanguinary guard and death company.......

So yeah another reason i decided to play Wolves was i love the sagas and want to start a wolf lord kill counter and they are the only race i know off that can make their HQ Eternal Warrior.

So Here it goes

So the Lord is Utterly Ridiculous in points but very resilient mobile and effective and space wolfs are supposed to have crazy characters right

What do you think about playing a lone wolf for my first games and each one that survives however unlikely that is will become a Wolf Guard? i will use his load out minus the wolf and each version of a lone wolf that survives will go into a wolf Guard Squad? I like the idea that way i would have a squad of tested unique and varied wolf guard?

The Hunters are to hold objective's or hunt vehicles and the wolves go with the Lord for Ablative wounds and extra attacks and his mount increases their LD right?

So what do you think?

That is 120 mini wolves and some very very expensive big wolves and i actually think it would be cheesy i mean with a 24 possible move for the charge range you have 1 turn to shoot them.

I think nthese lists are fun on paper but no to practical in application.

The first list - you want to drop either the LW or the wolves, to get rhinos/drop pods from the GH squads.

Second List - It isn't cheesy, its really weak. You have 1 unit that can hurt tanks, and only in CC. Going to die horribly to any mech list.

The second list is illegal. Fenrisian wolves with Canis are no longer fast attack at all they are troops only.

Silly me with FA wolves but if you dont play mech 100 wolfs would hurt bad

And with the 750 point list why rhinos or drop pods? The Grey Hunters will be holding objectives or advancing with the lone wolf

The Phinos and Drop Pods will distract everthing else from the Lone Wolf until it gets close

Now the Lord goes with the wolfs the loner stomps to the nearest big thing and the hunters drop down and spray unless its scary stuff like stealer

Oh and yes if he lives he becomes a wolf guard, yay!

I agree with the use of Rhinos for the Gery Hunters if they are to be moving up and capturing objective markers. Keeps them safe, and gives you a pretty good piece of mobile cover if your squads must hold an objective on the last few turns. And as Anpu42 stated, they will draw some fire away from your uber HQ.

The one thing I dissagree with on this list is the HQ choice. I know you even mentioned it before, but 280 points in only a 750 point list is a metric ton. He's 37% of your list, and it might be hard for him to make up his points. I totally understand if you can't not take him, as you said, Space Wolves are meant to have crazed, drunkely stupid expensive characters ;D

Its a fine list, and the last thing I want to tell you not to use fluffy models in one of the best Chapters/backgrounds in the game for fluff. I might consider saving your Thunderwolf HQ in a higher point cost arena though.

Thank you for that but do you mount them on the rectangle bases they come with (like the old bike bases) or normal circular infantry bases?

And yeah he crazy but he is going to rocket towards the nearest enemy commander to complete his saga requirement and no one expects someone this ownage with such small point limit and who can escape 24 inches?

Also can i do my own colour scheme for the wolfs and still be fluffy? Becuase they have no second foundings right?

And I want the colour scheme that is my avatar.

I've got my wolves on Rectangular bases cause when I got my first few, thats all they came with. I would imagine that you could mount them either way though, Im not sure if the rounded bases have little slots in them for the wolves feet to go into though.

As for color schemes, I say do as you please. Creativity is the greatest part of this game, whether it customizing or painting. If someone has a problem with you running Space Wolves of a differnt color, they have a giant sized stick up thier ass, and probably aren't worth playing against anyway.

And Thunderwolves? I have seen a few conversions from High Elf Chariot Lions and Chaos Juggernaughts, but Ebay is a good place to find some if you don't mind the cost. I recently got a few from there, and was looking to post a link, but sale is no-longer there. "Wolf Mounts for Miniature Tabletop Gaming" was the sale title.

Space wolves had at least one successor chapter some time ago - the Wolf Brothers, though they didn't end up very well. So you can create a new Founding of your own with ease - who knows how many are spread around the Imperium and lost to administrarium's records?

Do you think the battleforce box is worth it for the wolfs? you only get the scouts free after all. Would i be better of going halfs with a friend on AoBR? i think i will twice that way i costs less and i get two dreads two captains two squads to mix with bits and marines from a grey hunter box i will get and 10 terminators i can wolf up with the wolf guard box i just dont get 5 scouts or the pod.

No one is not worth it , you Need TWO or THREE.
They do mix well with the Black Reach. The Normal Marines can easly be mixed in with your Grey Hunters, and the Two Missile Lanchers are a start for some Long Fangs. The 2 Capitans can make desent Wolf Guard/WGBL/Wolf Lords, the only problem is that it is hard to modify his Bolt Gun.
The Wolf Guard Box set is a good choice to.

about 3-4 years ago i started wolfs then left them about two months after starting 40k they were the second and crons were the first. now i remember buying Ragnar a box of grey hunters a box of claws and a box of long fangs. This is what i have left

so sadly i have lost some 15 guys of 4 years but everyone else is usable but plasma fang has no backback so i just gave him a normal one

I don't think i will use Ragnar because no eternal warrior at toughness 4 is bad stuff waiting to happen.

Rest i will find a place for.

But i think i will just by 2 black reaches two pods and 5 wolfs and i will buy those thunder wolves of eBay then i will have 10 termies 4 thunder wolves 5 Grey hunters 5 long fangs and 2 dreadnoughts to add on to the list

May take a while though but just about to finish my tau tomorrow hopefully.

After that i will get a box of fangs and a box of termie guard and maybe a battle force by that time it should be sizable enough for 2000
