I'm a little confused as to how morale works, and I've been playing for some time, so thats worrying.

in the situation where you're not fearless or ATSKNF etc. if you're under half strength, you're never allowed to re-group?

that kinda sucks, to be honest.

now, my question is this:

is that in the example:

15 ork boyz, 8 losses, morale check, fails, runs away and cannot regroup ever
or is it
next turn can't regroup, but the turn after, as the squad is now considered 7-strong, it can regroup?

Otherwise, I feel the need to fire up the ol' P.R brain and 'fix it.'

N:

I see the second option as common sense, but I'm still not sure.

Closure, please.

They would never be able to regroup if below half strength

On pg. 46 of the little book under regrouping:

A unit falling back can attempt to regroup by taking a Regroup test in the Movement phase just before they move. This is a special type of leadership test, which falling back units cannot attempt if any of the following conditions apply:

1.The unit is below half strength
2.There are enemies within 6"
3.The unit is not in coherency

Being below half strength can be negated by a special rule such as ATSKNF/ orders, or equipment like a bonding knife for the Tau, which allows units to regroup even if below half strength.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Sadly mythological is correct. In the case of orks they are running away and shooting all the way off the board.

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel, its just a freight train coming your way!

Unless they somehow come into range of a "fearless" bubble/aura, they keep running.

Under half strength is under half of the starting strength.
If starting unit was 15 models then under half is 7 or less.
