Vassal battle report here, first completed game with it. I would recommend it to anyone who feels they don't get quite enough
40k in.
I decided to play-test my Imperial Fist's army.
Anyway, it was my 1,750 Imperial Fists against a rather unusual

Funny thing, I had not actually seen his list. I had personal matters, and all he had mentioned was that it was "tank heavy". I feel like an ass for not thinking more into it, I thought he just played mech
IG, which I thought I would be able to handle. Silly me.

We rolled off for deployment, I won, so I decided to deploy and go first. The game type was pitched battle, sieze ground with 3 objectives.
I placed two, and he placed one. Looking good so far.
He rolls to seize the intitiative and... rolls a 3.
Size of the walls:
So, deployment is like this:
(Lost deployment picture in translation, apologies, just guess from the first turn picture, I put them in a line.)
Side note, I deployed my marines like that because I was expecting some chimera spamming guard.
Imperial Fist Turn 1:
Land raider fires its
HK with
POTMS. It hits the side of a leman russ... though it does not have enough strength to do anything effective.
With no viable targets because of my stupidity, my
HK's fire into his lord commisar, and kill him.
The vindicators fire into the 3 man leman russ squadron.
One explodes, and another is simply shaken.
A missle marine fires at a heavy weapons team hoping to finish one off, though they pass their cover save.
The other marines hope to glance the oncoming leman russes, though they fail to do anything slightly productive.
Alright, that just about sums up the marine turn, off to a bad start.
Imperial Guard Turn 1:
Well, he says sorry for "surprising me" with the list, though I admit that I should not have had my head in the clouds.
So, he advances his leman russ squadrons Alpha (crippled to an extent) and Beta advance and blow a cannon from one of my vindicators with his ordinance.
His leman russ squadron Gamma make a dash down the right flank, hoping to obliterate my home squad.
His autocannon squads unleash a fearsome volley into my rhino advancing with my land raider. He manages to shake it three times, stun it twice, and blow off a weapon with three penetrations and two
glances.
Lascannons from various squads fire upon my land raider (left field) and a poor vindicator (right field). They manage to stun a vindicator.
Again, it looks grim for me as he has lost marginally less than me.
Imperial Fist Turn 2:
I hope I can pull a win out of this, seeing as I have multiple small units, and most objectives on my side, though this will be a hard fought victory.
I advance my "death star" unit to wipe out the entire left flank (should have gone for the right...).
My vindicators try to take out a leman russ, though they both miss horribly.
My land raider manages to cause a leman russ to explode from squadron Beta.
Rhinos position themselves to take care of some leman russes, one pops smoke.
My right most missle launchers fire at the front of russ squadron Gamma. Managing nothing.
My left most missle squad fire at his leman russ, and penetrate! Managing... a shaken, better than nothing I guess as I finish my turn.
Imperial Guard Turn 2:
Now things are staring to heat up, because he knows that if he messes this up, his tanks are done for.
Gamma advances down towards my lines some more, hoping to clear this objective up.
He wipes one combat squad off the face of the earth as his tanks advance even closer.
His lascannons fire away at my "smoking" rhino, though I don't benefit from the cover save... because he rolls all 1's to hit!
The left lascannons shoot at my land raider... shaking it.
His autocannons, his one chance to take out my rhino, so his battle cannons can mop up the infantry inside. 4 hits, three penetrate, looks grim so far. I pass one obscured, and I get a shaken... and an
explodes result.
All up to the scatter dice at this point as his leman russes anxiously fire away at my marines.
Hellish, he manages to kill all but one marine... AND he immobilizes my vindicator due to a lucky scatter. Yikes.
That is all his shooting, and on to my turn, looking like a definite major loss.
Imperial Fist Turn 3:
Alright, my assault terminators can now do something.
This is going to be that turn that makes or breaks the game for sure.
Everything moves into position, and then prepares to fire.
First off, the combat squad attempting to fry a russ at close range. The leman russ is not affected, and the tactical squad is as good as doomed next turn.
The vindicator that is still mobile, and has its cannon fires at the nearest russ. It manages to immobilize it, and because it is in a squadron, that is another russ down.
The rocket squad in the bottom left watch-tower prays as it lets a rocket off in the name of the god-emperor, which misses entirely. Another 1 to hit.
The land raider fires a multi-melta at the leman russ. Penetrating! ...3, not too shabby. Cannon is gone.
At least Lysander and his retinue can now crack some puny skulls. Difficult terrain test, here it is!
Lysander takes a wound... *facepalm*. Though he manages to kill 1, and win with combat resolution. I remember at this point, terminators cannot sweeping advance. He might be there for a while as
they pass their leadership.
The terminators have some luck, as they beat the heavy weapon squads, and consolidate forwards.
Imperial Guard Turn 3:
This turn is largely instrumental to my victory.
His (left) lascannons manage to glance my land raider, and blow off the multi-melta. They didn't have a shot of killing many terminators, so they shot at the land raider instead.
His right lascannons simply fire away at my vindicator (healthy one) and miss with all of them.
Next on the line, his leman russ, does nothing, joyous day, my vindicator is alive to fight another day.
Well, leman russ squadron Gamma's turn, I say goodbye as he fires at my lone squad.
Luckily, he leaves two alive and kicking, they're going to feth some treads next turn.
Lysander passes two saves this time, taking none, looking good as he kills only one guardsmen because they fail their leadership. His guard fall back enough to get destroyed, goodie.
(Only other picture missing I swear, I can only hold one picture at a time, so I could not recover them.)
Imperial Fists Turn 4:
I think I have a chance of winning this now, I thought I didn't have nearly enough
AV 14 penetration when I realized he didn't have alot of chimeras.
Lysander and his retinue march up further on the left side. I start by positioning myself for some melta-ing and some objective grabbing.
Let us see how much the emperor blesses me today.
Combat squad firing upon the Gamma russes cause one to explode! Joyous day. Their brothers run towards the objective.
My lone marine misses, though his brothers emerging fresh from the rhino have better luck as they immoblize the leman russ infront of them.
Vindicator shoots... and... hits!... and immobilizes it, good turn all in all. My missle marines in the bottom left manage to fail even harder as they miss the... immobilized... weaponless leman russ.
Assault time, woohoo!
First, two marines assaulting a leman russ from squadron Gamma, wrecking it twice and pulling off its main cannon. (This was done after the picture...)
Both squads assault, and both squads take a wound.
Terminators luckily smash six. Lysander kills two. Both squads fail their leadership and fall off the board. They consolidate.
Imperial Guard Turn 4:
Well, he admits his defeat at this point, but plays on anway. What a good sport.
Heavy bolter sponson from the remaining Beta manages to kill a marine.
The Alpha russ shakes my remaining useful vindicator.
The lascannons on the ridge hit my land raider, though they don't do anything worth while.
Imperial Fist Turn 5:
Well, despite my earlier doubts, this is an assured victory.
My missle marines come out of the watch tower and run towards the objective while my tanks go to contest his objective.
Shooting, happens, and my melta-guns either miss, or fail to penetrate.
Assault, my sergeant assaults a leman russ, and auto-hits, penetrates twice, and turns it into a crater. The explosion wounds a marine, though he survives to live another day.
Imperial Guard Turn 5:
He half-heartedly fires his heavy bolters upon my melta marine... he passes all of his saves.
His lascannons roll 1's to hit my land raider, so ends his shooting...
Imperial Fist Turn 6:
I advance as much as needed.
Vindicator and redeemer both fire into his guard squad and kill all but one, he passes his leadership and stays in the fight.
A few running units, such as Lysander and the other terminators.
The melta-marine shoots his wounded leman russ... and he... takes off the cannon.
Imperial Guard Turn 6:
He decided for an all out rush towards the objective, he hopes to not get massacred at the very least.
Everything makes a dash for the objective, his solo guardsman hopes to kill the melta-marine.
His leman russ sponson fires at my marine contesting his objective, and kills him this time!
Just about everything runs, his solo runs back inside.
Roll to see if the game ends: ... a 3, it finally ends...
2-1 favoring me.
I personally blame his abysmal and hellish rolling.
Ok, finally sorted out all the pictures.
Well, vassal can sometimes be a problem, with its rather slow game times, and its rather un-fluid movements. Though I did have a blast.
Me and my opponent did make a lot of mistakes we would not have normally, vassal sure does require some experience, though I thought I would share my first vassal experience with all of dakka! Also, the snapshots were sloppy because of our green-ness. We will be better in future matches next week. (The original battle report seemed very, droney, so I added in "woohoos!" and "yipees!", don't know if that will be appreciated though...)
P.S. If Dashofpepper doesn't care about me not having a mic, I am officially calling him out.
Sorry for the weird format, I just REALLY didn't want a wall of text.

If anyone got enough of a hoot out of this match, tell me, I might post up my match against Space Wolves next week.
