As it stands, Deff Dreads as Troops is kinda out of place. Plus you'd think having a Big Mek would mean there were more Mekboyz lurking about, no?

As a thought, what would it be like if a Big Mek allowed a unit of Lootas or Burnas to be taken as Troops?

No. When playing a Kan Wall, it's already annoying enough to have 1 unit of Lootas be able to knock out a front-armor facing vehicle, almost all of the way across the board.

Burnas, yes.

I wouldn't see why not, since Warbosses can choose from Elites choice variants of Nobs, why shouldn't the Big Mek be able to choose from both Elites choice variants of mekboys?

Except that it would allow 5 units of Lootas. That is hardy balanced. Even more so, as it would allow you to take 3 units of lootas and still be able to take nobz/burnas as elites. Plus, Lootas as troops would score, and make brillance backfield objective campers. Dreads are not that good in the first place, and cannot score.

It was moreso to counter the argument that only one type of the Elites meks should be taken as a Troops Choice.

Also, nobs can be just as abused too. Have you ever had to face 8 deffrollas at once? It's quite nasty.

I think the horde of deffdreds and kans is a flavourful and interesting army. The codex facilitates this by allowing two (fairly mediocre) heavy units to be taken as troops if you take big meks.

I don't think that allowing more lootas would make for a more flavourful or interesting army. Look! it's just like another footslogger army but there's more of those guys with big guns stand at the back!

For the record, I'm a little iffy on allowing two units of nobs as troops as well. Especially when coupled with the dedicated transport/deffrolla thing.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

So you're iffy on an established rule already in the codex... That makes sense...

I think the DeffDred as troops is what makes a Kan Wall iconic... it doesn't really work without the big dreds...

But I agree that it's odd the BigMek doesn't make it more common to see meks in the field...

How about allowing a single Loota/Burna mob fill troops, but make them become 0-3?

But really, the reason the dred becomes troops is because the Mek makes more crazy machines because he runs the mob... other Meks are competition for parts and looting- which I would imagine a Big Mek isn't going to stand for! He should get the best parts.

Yes, it makes perfect sense. Just because a rule is official doesn't mean people can't form an opinion on to whether it makes the game better or worse. Has anyone ever argued otherwise? I mean... what an odd post you made.

Hi all.
If the Ork List still had Pain-Bosses,(Bad Doc,Big Doc whatever they were called)then these would allow Deff Dreads to be taken as Troop Chioces.(Unfortunatley Mad Doc Grotsnik is the only Pain Boss currently available.)

Why orks got a Wierdboy as an HQ, over a Pain Boss is some thing Ill never understand.
(Wierdboy and Mad boy mob would have made a kewl elite choice IMO.)

Big Meks should allow Burnas to be taken as troops IMO, as more Meks need more wrecks chopping up to get 'da gubbins' out.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

Anything that puts non-scoring units into your scoring slots is sorta "meh." Don't get me wrong; I run dread bash and those two dreads are in my list running amok, but I'd rather have other things in other lists. Scoring burna boyz? Yes, please!

The Weirdboy should've been an upgrade for a Nob unit, with the Nobs being able to inflict wounds on the Weirdboy to prevent powers from going off. ("NOT DAT POWER! CAST DA UVA ONE!")
