I just picked up the new Guard codex. What happened to that "Platoon Drill" rule in the rumors where members of the same platoon can fire through each other without intervening rules? Am I missing it somewhere in the codex, or was that just a rumor and is there no such rule?

no, definitley using 5th edition. I'm talking about before the new codex came out there was supposed to be some rule that allowed squads in the same Platoon to be able to shoot through one another without using the "intervening models" rule. But I'm not seeing anything like that in the new codex.

Well, to phrase it differently, in 4th edition three was the regimental doctrines section. Specifically skills and drills and regimental doctrine.

Allowed you to make the regiment somewhat unique. IN the May 09 (5thedition) this is gone?

Somewhat. You can still diversify your Veteran Squads (Demolitions, Grenadiers, something else) and Storm Trooper squads and there's A LOT more unit options. They've also included some of the stuff like Penal Legion being an actual entry in the codex.

While the doctrines are gone, there's still plenty of ways you can diversify your army.

There were TWO third edition codices.
The 2nd of these had the doctrines.

The current one does not (except for selected veterans/stormtroopers).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
