Implacable Skitarii

Hey this is my first painted tau and i have no idea on how I'm going to make the base. i plan to do it like the inside of a imperial ship, (like as if they were raiding it) but I have never done anything like that yet... so any ideas would help.
I was thinking maybe using some screen from a screen door but haven't yet tried it.(any thoughts on that idea?)

They sell pre-patterned plasticard that has patterns that might look like an imperial ship floor. There are also companies that sell scenic bases with metal/etc floor bases.

The painting is very crisp and there are little to no flaws. One tip, find a super high detail brush, mix that gray base paint in about of 2:1 with a pure white and highlight all edges.

What he said. Highlighting the edges will really make him pop.
And I think the starship floor idea is really nice.

Highlights on the grey and black please. The paint on the head fins seems a little thick, but it might just be the pics. Nice work overall tho.

ty for the feed back, one of the fins fell off and i accidentally applied to much glue so it seeped out and i need to clean that up asap... and i will try the highlight tomorrow, also i was thinking would a slightly lighter Grey camo patter be necessary or do you all think it looks good as one shade of Grey i mean there in a ship so I'm having trouble imagining if it would really make a difference... and i made a base with the screen mesh stuff and will post a pic it looks a bit odd i think i might want to get some plasticard and maybe make it separated in a way, but i don't know atm.
[Edit]
ok got a photo of it unprimered.

This is a great first fig! A lot of people have the misconception that Tau are easy to paint compared to things that have a lot of detail, but the reverse is almost true - all those large, flat, single color areas are hard to get looking good - gw!
The highlighting has been mentioned, but if you really want it to start 'popping' experiment with rank/unit markings. Simple example: Run a yellow (warning, yellow sucks to paint - just do several light thin coats) stripe vertically down his head, off center. Make sure to continue the stripe down the front of the lip but stop before you get into the housing with the eyes/lenses. Next, paint the lowest leg panel on the right thigh yellow also.
This has a pretty drastic effect on crisis suits, and is well worth it - plus, if you hate it, it's usually easy to paint over because you're talking about small areas.
You look like you're going to have a rather good time painting from the start, so I'll also offer the first non-painting item that jumps out at you - you need to get some files to remove the bumps where things were on sprues. Look around a you can get several for really cheap - types don't really matter all that much right now, your main requirements are just the small, flat normal one right now.

ya when i started to paint it i thought it should be easy but they you get to the groves and the lenses (which i need to redo) and finding that pose that you like etc, One thing i wish i noticed when i got it was the hole so it can be on a flying base, I thought that was really cool and immediately worked to set it up as best i could, without breaking it in ways that would be hard to fix. and i will try out the yellow strip in an hour or so... and hopefully have a new pic before 9:00pm Pacific time.

could you elaborate on what you mean by a mid tone?

Okay, painted the base, haven't done the yellow yet since I'm still trying to decide what I want it to look like and were on the head and leg to put it.

Gotta agree on the call for highlights, itll make the model really pop.
The mesh bases look great! Dont be afraid to get a little 3d with your bases. Maybe add in a small railing or control panel to really let us know where they are?
