Hey all, quick question about Psykers. I've got the BRB here with me but I still want to get some clarification just to be 100% sure.

Say I want to use a shooting attack, lets say JotWW for example. I declare I will be using a Psychic Power and then roll my Leadership. Select the unit I wish to use the Power on, at that time do I roll to "Hit" since it is indeed a shooting attack?? I assume yes since it is a shooting attack but I was just wondering and wanted clarification.

No. You Declare which unit you are shooting at before rolling the test.

JotWW doesn't roll to hit, since it doesn't need to for the line to be drawn.

Indeed JotWW does not need to roll to see if it hits, just pure 1/3 chance MEQ instagib goodness, although it affects friendlies and you have to see the first thing in your line. I'm not sure if the following is correct or not, but my local group also plays that the squad your rune priest is with may then shoot anything, as no squad was really "targeted", simply a line was drawn... same with blood lance.

Alright. So you specify which unit you are planning to attack, check LOS and all that crap...roll your leadership and if you pass, then you just hit everything in your path of 24". Correct?

Indeed.

You DO roll to hit with powers that have a weapon profile, eg living lightning

Ahh I see, now that you mention that it makes a lot more sense to me now.

JotWW is more like a template attack where you hit whatever you cover, and the others that have profiles are where you would roll to hit.

Thanks for all the help peoples !

If you want clarification on a Pychic Shooting Attack with a weapon profile, I asked a similar question the other day.

Basically, once you pass a leadership test you roll to hit like a normal ranged weapon.

So does JotWW not have a weapon profile, or does it have special rules like "hits automatically"? I'm not a Space Wolfer.

It just doesnt funct8ion like a normal weapon - you dont "hit" the unit normally, you just point in a direction and a line of destruction ahppens.
