I am just wondering but does anyone know whether you add the armor save bonuses together or just use one or the other?

Example:
Chaos Sorcerer
-Enchanted Shield + Chaos Armor: Gives a 2+ armor save
-Chaos Chariot has a 3+ save (Equivalent of a 4 step bonus from nothing.)

So while riding one does he have a 3+ armor save or does he have a -2 armor save for combining all the bonuses?

I am also assuming that when you randomize shooting, the chariot only has its base save of 3+?

The BRB, page 64 under Characters & Chariots indicates that a character benefits from an additional +2 to his or her armor save by being in a chariot. The save of the chariot itself only has a bearing on hits inflicted on the chariot.

So, if your sorcerer is mounted on a chariot and carrying the enchanted shield, his save will be a 0+.

Not that it matters with WoC, but I believe that you either get a +2 improvement to your armour or the chariot's armour save, whichever is better.

That is not correct. Please read the rulebook quotes.

Hm. Don't have one with me. Pretty sure I read that though. Did they change the book at all in later printings or anything?
I'll post something if I can find it. But again, it doesn't really matter. A chaos sorcerer is almost always going to have a better save than his chariot after the +2 anyway.

Got it. And it seems we all may have forgotten something...maybe?

BRB p.64 "When shooting at a chariot...the character gains a +2 armour save bonus for riding the chariot or can use the armour save value of the chariot, whichever is best"

So this sorcerer's got a 0+ against shooting attacks, and a 2+ in CC, while the chariot has a 3+ against both.

I don't quite see how you're getting a 0+ against shooting attacks. The sorc is wearing chaos armor which has a 4+ save. If the chariot modifies by +2 then you're looking at a 2+ save from shooting and CC.

Warpsolution is assuming the sorcerer is equipped with the Enchanted Shield.

Yeah. With a regular shield, he's have a 1+ against shooting (Chaos armour + shield + chariot) and a 3+ in CC (Chaos armour + shield), since the chariot's armour is only counted against missiles.

You gain the +2 in only shooting/MM. In CC its treated as a monstrous mount.
