Do imperial worlds have any form of television of television or internet? I have always wondered if there was an 'Holy Emperor T.V'. This would clear up some of my questions of how technologically humanity has become.

In a few novels (Ravenor, Eisenhorn, Gaunt's Ghosts) There are vids stands on many streets, similar to street-lights, that constantly play propaganda, religious ceremonies, ect. I am not so sure about in home or personal use or anything like that.

It varies from planet to planet. I imagine most of the civilised Imperial worlds would have modern forms of entertainment, but there are Feral Worlds (where people live in tribes with little or no modern tech) and Feudal Worlds (where everyone's stuck in the medieval era). They're like Terra in past ages.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Do those count?

All depends on the world. Any world beyond the industrial age likely has multimedia. But it is not galaxy spanning.

That is one thing most people mis-understand about the imperium. It isn't like our world, or the Star Trek Federation where everyone shares a similar culture and interacts regularly. Interstellar travel and communication is a big deal to most, and systems are largely isolated. You are not going to have a galaxy wide news channel, sector wide would be pushing it.

Some of the books mention pictcasts/pictcasters which I suppose correspond to shows and televisions?

I'm pretty heavy into 40k fluff and novels, and I have yet to see an example of some Internet-equivalent, which to me is really unusual.

Obviously, there's probably some issues with getting such a network to work across star systems and such, but on a terrestrial level at least, I don't see how any such civilization could function without computers being able to share data in that manner.

And it's much more than just consumer-level browsing. Modern militaries and economies rely on the Internet to a very, very large extent.

i am currently reading Ravonor: the Omnibus.

there is the majestratim's archives of Public information. i would imagine it is an Internet equivalent.

I am sure they have at least planet wide Vid programs. and i am 100% sure they have public Voxcasts.

Internet: Yes, but it functions more like a Wikipedia/Google information thing.

TV: most likely. regular programs laced with Propaganda.

Radio: Yes. same as TV.

Advanced technology is not part of the 40k universe.
Anti-grav technology and the powerful Land Raiders are the achievements in the 40k world.

Telivision and radio(pict and vox casts) are hardly advanced tech.
