Ok, I've been going through the Warhammer cupboard and selling it off on ebay like a stockbroker getting rid of Icelandic krona (needed to pay a surprisingly steep gas bill).

I've done pretty well out of it so far and have decided there were some items that I didn't want to part with or were unlikley to sell for very much. Two of these items were the Warhammer Watchtower and the Citadel Wood. The latter was in pretty bad shape, but I decided to have a go at tidying it up. I ripped off all the foliage (which looked hapazard and unnatural), scraped away the excess green stuff and glued the trees onto the base. One black undercoat and a basecoat of scorched brown (charadon granite for the rocks) later, it doesn't look too bad

Suitably inspired, I rumaged around for some other things to fix up. I found 10 Empire Archers (undercoated), the wounded Orc from the same set, 10 Empire Crossbowmen (unpainted but in sound condition) and 5 Pistoliers (some of which are badly damaged). As I'm currently waiting on Warhammer 8th to continue with my Skaven army, I thought I'd set myself the challenge of painting this lot. The theme is going to be Stirlanders (ignore the blue arm & leg on one of the Archers, it will shortly be green!).

All painting and modelling suggestions welcome, but tips on painting yellow and advice on repairing those Pistoliers would be particularly appreciated

Made a start with the Archers this evening. They look quite sloppy at the moment, but I'm concentrating on getting the basecoat on, namely the yellow/green sleeves and breeches.

More tomorrow!

Your yellow looks pretty good. Citadel basecoat is probably the way to go - I've had some success painting golden brown under yellow, and also building up lighter shades of yellow and then hitting them with darker one.
