So haven't really done anything with Warhammer in a while so I thought I'd try to do up a different Space Marine list. Here's what I have so far. You'll probably notice I only have 2 troop choices, and I'm hoping I compensated with enough shooty things to make up for it . Anyways here's the list. Oh, and any ideas on what to put in when I eventually expand the list? Let's say 2,000 or 2,500 points.

HQ
Chaplin
- TDA and Combi-Melta
135

Elites
Assault Terminators
- 5 of them with TH/SS of course
- Land Raider Crusader w/ Mutli-Meta and Extra Armour
475 points

Troops
Tactical Squad
- 10 man
- Sergeant w/ Powerfist
- Melta and Multi-Melta
- Rhino
235 points

Tactical Squad
- 10 man
- Sergeant w/ Powerfist
- Melta and Multi-Melta
- Rhino
235 points

Scout Squad
- 5 man
- Sergeant Telion (will use a stand in)
- Sniper Rifles, Camo Cloaks, and Missile Launcher
150 points

Fast Attack

Land Speeder Typhoon
- Typhoon Missile Launcher and Heavy Bolter
90 points

Land Speeder Typhoon
- Typhoon Missile Launcher and Heavy Bolter
90 points

Heavy Support

Predator
- Autocannon and Heavy Bolter Sponsons
85 points

1,495 points

Edit:
- Revamped the list a bit. Dropped a predator and a landspeeder to put in another typhoon, upgrades for the crusader to give it more dakka, and a scout squad.

For trying to do something different it's a pretty standard Space Marine list. Two troops choices are fine for 1500pts. I would drop the TL Lascannons on the Pred and I would drop the Multi-melta on the Typhoon Land Speeder but other than that it's solid

Oh, I didn't mean something incredibly abstract, just something different for me. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks for the input though, that'd free up some points for powerfists

The LR should have a MM, 600pts for one unit in a 1500pt army is too much imo but YMMV... I would consider droping the TDA on the libby in order to save some pts. You dont have that much anti infantry really.

Taking a plain Libby and droping the next to useless PFs would give you enough pts for another dakka pred and a MM on the LRC.

I might be more inclined to take a SM Captian instead of a Libby in this list.

I think the Capt. has better durability in CC

True, the Captain does have more durability in CC, but I wanted the Librarian in there mostly for his powers. Also, I think that the TDA and SS help even the fields in terms of durability.

Hmmm lately I've been thinking, and have been wondering if it would be a good idea to swap out the Terminators, Landraider, and Librarian for a Captain with a command squad on bikes geared up for melee.

Point for point a Librarian in Terminator Armor and a Storm Shield vs. Captain in Terminator Armor actually the Librarian has better durability.

I don't think the list is too bad tbh. It could do with wargear refinement like multi melta on the land raider and I prefer 3 troop choices. I'd also change that typhoon to a MM/HF speeder and change the tri-las pred to a dakka pred; you have enough anti tank in the form of melta.

Modified my list a bit. I looked through the codex again and I'm rather partial to Typhoons and their ability to fire missiles as defensive weapons. Also added a scout squad for anoter troop choice and gave the Crusader more dakka.

Why did you go with a typhoon over a dakka pred? Pred would be cheaper, and have more weapons and survivability. imo

Aye, drop the typhoons because dakka predators are cheaper have more guns and better armour.

If you take speeders use there speed as a advantage and get short ranged weapons like flamers and multi meltas into range quicker.

So no assault cannons on speeder mercer?

I agree you take LS for speed and lightning strikes. But if you get them too close they'll come under a lot of bolter fire....

Wouldn't it be better to arm them with mid-range weapons like Assault cannon and Multi Melta?

That way you only have to deal with longer range weapons (being hard to hit helps).

Typhoons are awesome instead of using their speed to get in close they use it to keep themselves out of range of most weapons.

Predators are good but are limited. if you move 6" you can fire one gun with Typhoons you can move 12" fire two strength 8 shots or fire your heavy bolter and two strength 4 blasts. Extremely versatile

@General Chaos

My thoughts exactly. When I first looked at the Landspeeder and what the general config. was meant to do, HF/MM, it just kind of seemed subpar. I don't like the idea of sending units to their death at a chance to take out the enemy's armour. Where as the Typhoon let's me take shots at them with everything while moving about at cruising speed! :O

In my eyes the Typhoon has more utility than the standard Speeder and the Dakka Pred. However, I guess I'll end up finding out when I play some games with it...
