I've been constantly tinkering with my semi-fluffy Crimson Fist lits over the last couple weeks, and while I've found success with them (4-2-1) I haven't really been satisfied. I started out running them in Combat Squads with half in a Razorback and the other half acting as a Devastator squad. Then I tried just slapping them of them in a Rhino with heavy Flamers. But I end up paying 700+ points for a shooting phase or two and an assault phase. Obviously with Pedro they are scoring, but it seemed like a lot of points to pay for such a little impact.

Pedro Kantor
Sternguard x10: 2 Heavy Flamers, 1 Combi-Melta, Sgt w/ Power Fist & Combi-Melta, in Drop Pod - 340
Sternguard x9: 2 Meltaguns, 1 Combi-Melta, Sgt w/ Power Fist & Combi-Flamer, in Drop Pod - 300
Dreadnought: Multi-Melta, Heavy Flamer, in Drop Pod - 150
Scouts x5: CC + BP, Sgt w/ Power Fist - 100 pts
Scouts x5: CC + BP, Sgt w/ Power Fist - 100 pts
Tactical Squad x10: Plasma Gun, Plasma Cannon, in Razorback w/ TL-Lascannon - 260
Land Speeder Storm: Heavy Flamer - 60
Land Speeder Storm: Multi-Melta - 65
Attack Bikes x2: Multi-Melta - 100
Predator w/ AC, Lascannon Sponsons - 120
Vindicator - 115
Vindicator - 115

Total: 2000 pts

I decided that the best way to get them where I need them to be is to have them drop in. That way they can make a bigger impact on the battle in the first couple turns, and can allow me to pick and choose my objectives. In order to compliment this I've replaced my normal Sniper Scout squads with Close Combat Scouts in Storms. A player at my FLGS uses a squad like that to pop tanks or assault devastator squads and it works really well. They also compliment my Sternguard better than the sniper scouts, and would benefit greatly from Pedro's +1 attack.

I've included a Tactical Squad to sit back on a "home" objective and given them a TL-Lascannon Razorback to give me some extra AT punch. I would really like those with experience in Drop Pod Lists to give me some advice/tips and comment on my Sternguard build. Anybody with experience running the Scouts like this would really be helpful as well.

I think it looks really good. I've never used drop pods before.

Here's ideas maybe?

Is there any way to get maybe your second sternguard squad to x7, then maybe get another drop poding unit? (dreadnought or tactical squad)

I think your sergeants combi-weapons should cooridinate with the weapons on the team. The Heavy Flamer team is obviously going to be in front, just give him combi-flamer for a good assaulting attack if they have to.

If you dropped the super expensive razorback, and streamlined that other tactical squad. You could field another x10 tacticals with the drop pod, give em MM, Meltagun. With the drop poding close range, and the fire support from a dread, and two sterngaurd units, those bolters, and two melta weapons will most likely kill a lot more than a TL lascannon shot every round on a armor 11 vehicle.

Unless your combat squading half of your tactical squad on foot btw. You can't ride all of them in the Razorback.

I really don't see the point in power fists on the Scout Sergeants in numbers of 5, and 4+ armor saves, they'll probably get eaten up whatever happens. Why not save points, drop all the upgrades from them, and give em Camo cloaks instead. Considering it looks like they're back objective holders.

Wait are the scouts riding in the LSSs?

The purpose of argument is informative discourse, not to see who finishes in front.

Dropping the Razorback gives me 75 extra points, but I'm not sure what you mean by "streamlining" my one tactical squad, but that squad you suggested would cost me 210 points. Where would you suggest I get those from?

Yes, the scouts will be in the Storms. They are there to assault vulnerable enemy targets hiding in the backfield like tanks, low model count long range shooting squads, etc. Not to mention the storms are cheap platforms for a Heavy Flamer and a Multi-Melta. They also give me more mobile scoring units.

both plasma upgrades are 15 points each. you could just take MM + meltagun and save 30 points

Drop 3 sternguard

Drop two power fists

Drop Lascannon Razor for rhino.

Total is looking at somewhere around 180-190 points?

That's getting pretty damn close, figure out what to do from there to etch in a drop pod for the new squad.

I think a dakka pred in the place of the attack bikes may serve you better.

I would also suggest making both your sternguard full 10 man squads. It comes in handy when you need to combat squad them to take out multiple targets.

I also agree with the above. PF on scouts is a real point sink. Scouts won't hold up long enough to get the use out of 'em.

No experience, but suggestion from the peanut gallery is to get sternies both to 10. Maybe consider some assault marines without their jump-packs to ride in a pod with Pedro?

Thats just wrong. With the LSS they have a massive assault range so there is no need to assault anything they cant handle.

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

I would add the last Sternguard to the squad so you have the option of combat squading as you deploy from the Drop Pod
Scouts x5: CC + BP, Sgt w/ Power Fist - 100 pts

I agree the Powerfist is to expensive on scouts, I run mine with combi-melta and meltabombs, most vehicles you are gunna assault have 10 at the most 11 AR the Kraks and meltabombs do the trick. And when you can first turn assaults you are gunna autohit
