Has anyone read or been aware that Boom! studios put out 40k graphic novels?
I have never been so disappointed with a liscenced product being adapted to another medium well, outside of Superman Returns. Anyway I hope GW had very little to do with it because it certainly appears that way. The actual story telling isn't bad and the cover art is well done. At least on the 2 novels I bought( "Defenders of Ultramar" and "Blood and Thunder"). The interior art however left MUCH to be desired! I mean YIKES! What were these guys thinking? I was most disappointed with the Defenders of Ultramar. That was a sorry addition to the 40k product line. Blood and Thunder did have some redeeming artistic qualities i.e. the coloring other than that it was also sub par.

Anyone else?

I got the Damnation Crusade book, about the Black Templars. The art inside was beautiful and the writing was excellent. No complaints here.

alright maybe I'll have to check that out. I'm just abit leary after my previous disappointments. I don't want to be sucker punched by a company hoping to cash in on the 40k popularity.

Damnation Crusade was written by Dan "Wrote Gaunt's Ghosts" Abnett. Give it a shot.

I read Damnation Crusade and the handful of other stories in there. They didn't all make a whole hell of a lot of sense, but the art was really, really good.

Spoiler:
In Damnation Crusade, the main characters are all the same guy.

Neophyte Raclaw = Brother Gerhard = Dreadnought Tankred

Only the last name change wasn't accounted for. When he became an Initiate, he took the name of his former superior/mentor.
