Two qs in one thread. As I think it´s a cool Eliteschoise I was wondering what people thought about him and what model you are useing to reprecent him? That´s all for now, go crazy...

This is probably better off in general or tactics, I'll ask a mod to move it...

No model exists, a Zoanthrope makes the most sense as a model to base it on (as he is a Zoanthrope).

Yes he's worth the points but only if you give him a spore pod (for which there also isn't a model) and it does depend on:

a) how mech your meta is (which in most cases is almost entirely).

b) If so do you play that he effects units inside transports (which is hotly debated by many but I can see no logical reason for him not to).

If I remember correctly the INAT FAQ said that he does, but they get covers. No definites until an official GW FAQ is released though.

Yes he is definitely worth the points and will usually draw a lot of fire.

I've found null zone and some krack missiles to do him in quite fast.

This is certainly your best bet but anything with S8 or above that can get a decent number of hits on him should do the trick.

Can he do 130 points of damage in 1 turn though? Hell yes!

Only one s8 needs to get through anyway. I see them occasionally in Killteams with Eternal Warrior thrown on, not so fun
Pod lands in and the games over usually the turn after he arrives.
TH/SS Terminators seem to work surprisingly well against him if you're using marines (with the exception being the ones with the SS only working in CC). If you do manage to fail a LD test on 3D6, you get the 3+ invuls, then they only need to get one hit through to kill him.

Just remember it doesn't need LOS to use it's ability.

I used a slightly converted zoanthrope which has the bootom piece of a ravener and a bit of green stuff to extend parts of the head shell.

Doom is totally discusting if played right and totally worth the points. He must be dropped in a pod for full effect and ideally you want to work him into a list which will have your opponenet bunching up. So he is best used in outflanking lists or deep striking lists.

If I remember correctly, it doesn't even technically "use" its ability. It's just a pulsing wave of death that happens when it makes planetfall.

I use a zoanthrope, and the mawloc antenna's on his head. That makes him look different for sure.

As far as his usefulness. he is by far the MVP of my army. His main use for me is to buy time for my horde to reach the other side of the table.

The other army simply cannot ignore him. They have to devote resources to his destruction, or they will pay a big price. And yes, I understand that he can be instakilled by lascannon, melta's. but if you are shooting him with lascannons, then you aren't shooting my Trygon Prime with those guns, and thats the whole point.
