Okay this a question for all the Ork players who have a firm grip on "Orky" canon; Do Ork Kommandos ever employ ghillie suits or a variation of the ghillie suit (like cloths dipped in crap, mud and twigs? ) or is this use of actual camouflage considered "un-orky" even by Kommando standards?

Note that I do recall that Kommandos employ a variety of "sneaky" camouflages such as an arrange of warpaints, enemy equipments and the more "player-appreciated" Space Marine Cut-Outs .

Thank you in advance for your help and input.

If my 2nd Edition knowledge holds true, most Kommando's are from the Blood Axe Clan and Blood Axes mimic humies in warfare and tactics - or at least, they mimic them as far as an Ork can do.

I can't recall any specifics of Orks using Ghillie suits but I don't see why not.

Youve got to realize that komandos arnt considered "Orky" by the rest of the boyz. They use camo and other ways to hide and sneak around. So yea Id say it would make sense to have some of the komandos running around in ghillie suits. Post pics once youve started is all I ask

Didn't Snikrot and his Red Skull Kommandos allow vines and fungus to grow into their skin?

It would be an awesome modelling project. Do it

Inside that little light in your refridgerator

Most kommandos (well, at least the ones that know how to sneak) employ camouflaged warpaint or an orky version of a ghillie.

If you're making some, go for warpaint and some foliage attached to armour.

Although, if you wanna go there (and make a model entirely out of bitz) you can make a large bush or plant and have the top of an orks head, its backside or it's arms sticking out like I did.

Snikrot is more of a creeper then even other Kommandos though. I wouldn't use him as a basis of judgment. And he didn't let the stuff grow onto him, nor did he use ghillie suits, he just ran around almost naked so his skin color blended in.

As far as I've ever see or read, no ghillie suits have actually been used by orks. But being Orks, its a matter of time before one of them tries it.

Pics or it didn't happen

40K fluff is defined by whatever awesome models people come up with, not the other way around.

This would look cool so you should totally do it.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Somewhere in south-central England.

Just do what you like.

Don't be chained within GW canon.

If you have a fun idea, roll with it. Lots of other people will find it fun too.

Wonderful, thanks to everyone for the clearification. And yes I should have added that I am in the progress of making a Kommandos squad lead by Snikrot (with all of them bieng equiped with ghillies). Now all I have to do is pick up my orders tommorrow and I'm good. Expect WIP pikes this week.

^^^ Great use of the jungle trees sprue. I could totally see someone doing a whole feral ork tribe with leaf-hats.

Those are pretty sweet CT. I too love the leaf hats. Pretty ace!

As for me, the day has been prosperous (meaning that I've accomplished alot). I picked up the orders from Games Workshop today (this including Boss Snikrot and a squad of Kommandos) as well as I've also decided on what material my ghillies will be made out of. Behold! Sports Medicine Tap! (whoooo! )

It's light, it's durable, it's tearable, it's easy to work with. Absolutly perfect for this type of situation. I also think it'll look really, really good as well.

Expect a new thread chronicling the make-up of the model to pop up soon. Peace!
